WASHINGTON - Governor Marc Racicot, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, today issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of Tom Daschle becoming Senate Majority Leader:
This week Democrats are marking the year anniversary of Senator Daschle as Senate Majority Leader. It is not altogether clear what accomplishments they are celebrating. In the past year, Senator Daschle has a job performance rating of 23.8 percent. Americans charge their elected officials to represent them in Washington, to move beyond partisan bickering. Americans expect leadership and results. Working Americans across the country know that if they had such a poor job performance rate, their job would be in jeopardy.
President Bush and House and Senate Republicans are committed to leadership on the important issues facing the American people. Republicans are focused on a positive, results-oriented agenda for Americas national, economic, and homeland security. House Republicans have passed many parts of that agenda. In the Senate, these important priorities for the American people are languishing.
One of the primary functions of the Senate is to pass a budget. Senator Daschle promised to pass a budget in the Senate by Memorial Day. With the Memorial Day weekend here, the Senate is still without a budget. Failure to pass a budget in the Senate would mark a historic first since the Budget Act of 1974 began requiring them. Americans have to decide their budget priorities, so should the Senate.
I am calling on Senator Daschle to elevate the debate above partisan bickering and move the Senate in a positive direction. It is time to act on the important legislation passed by the House of Representatives. Republicans and Democrats have honest disagreements on many issues. Leadership requires us to move beyond these disagreements to address the priorities of the American people.

What I think is funny is remember last year when they insisted that Bush redo his budget to fit their vision when they can't even pass their own.

Thank you for the post, Kaslin. I find it helps to send simple, short articles to the press re. Daschle and the Dems....especially those with colored pictures and pretty graphs. Just sent this one off to our local NBC station in response to their Memorial Day report (Daschle's newest accusations against the President....they think we've forgotten last week's?). Been sending Daschle/Clinton info so they have something other than AP/DNC press releases. What are they teaching these cub reporters today that they are unable to do basic research or realize their own blessings as US citizens?

Pretty accurate, except he accidentially refered to Dasshole as Senate "majority" leader. I don't see 51 Democrats in the Senate.

Well I don't think Dasshole is the majority leader either, but he thinks he is

I'd like to see someone in the media give a letter grade to Daschle. 23% would be an "F" in my class.

I have given up posting articles in the evening on the West Coast because they don't get the attention that they deserve and the moderators get upset if they are reposted. It's a shame.
Bump again.
