LOL! Yeah, we tend to speak to each other in acronyms and plan family outings like a military operation. Three of my brothers-in-law were Army buddies of mine before they met and married my sisters. Two of those met them by circumstance and only later realized who's sister they had hooked up with. It's a small world.

The experience and character building that world travel teaches is invaluable.

That used to be true but ever since Subic was shut down, world travel just isn't the same anymore.

S4T,

Glad to be of service (pun intended). I have to agree with HiJinx. Make sure that your son get's everything in writing. I spent a little time as a recruiter, and I can tell you that there are some out there that are not above board, but they are in the minority. Nevertheless, this could be a lifetime committment for your son, and you wouldn't sign a contract for a house without knowing what you're getting into, would you? It is just as important, and even more so, that your son has a good idea of what he's getting into. The first few months usually make or break a military career, because it is during that time that a soldier/sailor/airman develops his attitude concerning his duties. If that attitude is colored by a bad enlistment experience, it usually carries through out the enlistment. I've seen a lot of otherwise good men get in trouble, and throw away a potential career because they feel that they were lied to early on.

Good luck!

Let us know what he chooses.

Fair winds and following seas,

P8riot

I always heard that if the Air Force had "wanted you to have a wife, they would have issued you one." In my case they did.
