To: Snow Bunny
Oh, I've slipped the surely bonds of earth
And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;
Earthward I've auto'ed and met the rising brush of Non-paved terrain;
And done a thousand things you would never care to
Skidded and dropped and flared Low in the heat soaked roar.
Confined there, I've chased the earthbound traffic And lost the race to insignificant Headwinds;
Forward and up a little in ground effect I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns
Where never Skyhawk or even Phantom flew.
Shaking and pulling collective,
I've lumbered The low untresspassed halls of victor airways,
Put out my hand and touched a tree.

~~MEMO to self:
all right now the font color is green
How do you turn it off
and do you really want to?~~

Great poem at #46, usmcobra. God works in mysterious ways. The poetry inspired by the horrors of war is so often powerful, beautiful and heartbreaking...and there aren't words enough to thank you and your fellow patriots for the sacrifices and suffering you put in for folks like me. So, sending humble prayers of thanks- prayers for protection of our guys currently in harms way, prayers for peace for those who will raise families, work and suffer with memories of wartime, prayers for the families and friends of those left behind....their loved ones waiting not far ahead. Bless you all.
