Sorry, but I'm talking about after Sept 11. What did Bush do? He flew the Stainmaker halfway around the World so that lowlife could get to Manhatten before the President. Sure the Stainmaker bears the major reponsibility for allowing Sept 11 to happen, but do you really think our response after Sept 11 would have been much different if Gore had won?

But no one cares, or even remembers. People remember "the people who did this are going to hear from all of us." None of the other stuff matters. After 9/11, America doesn't hate Clinton; it doesn't think about him at all.

If Gore had won, we'd still be trying to get stronger language in the official UN statement.
SOP. The country was attacked and getting Slick out of harm's way was a loathsome but reasonable precaution. Having the former imPOTUS taken hostage or worse would have made the US look weak and ineffective to our enemies. (Even if some of us might have cracked open a bottle of champagne to celebrate the ironic justice of the situation.) It's the same reason why the US couldn't allow Bubba to face war crimes charges in the Hague...he may or may not deserve it, but as a matter of US prestige and sovereignity, we cannot allow a third party to do what we should do ourselves.
Besides, it was more important to retrieve the secret service personnel assigned to him, and to do that we had to bring Slick Willy home. Wouldn't want to unduly risk some good men and women by leaving them in a position where they would have to take a bullet for that jerk, would we?
; )
Well, since you think you're such an expert on waging war and retaliation, what would your plan of action be? Imagine yourself President on 9/11...what's your next step?
