Wow, watching local teevee and not a word so far. (But they'll break into a show to tell about a cat caught in a tree--great news teams here--NOT!) Thanks for the heads up!

(05-26) 07:10 PDT SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) --
A barge knocked out a 400-foot section of a bridge on Interstate 40 over the Arkansas River early Sunday, sending several cars plunging into the water, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, but the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they were in a state of emergency.
Several cars were in the water, and dive teams were on the way to the scene, said Sam Graves, communications officer for the Highway Patrol.

CNN said they were sending divers down to look for people....That's about it, no word on fatalities or survivors..just that part of bridge collapsed into river and cars along with it.
State of Emergency.

I cleverly did not have the local stations on when they found Chandra's belongings. But they might well have. (grumble mumble mutter)

Wow!! Recall the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was hit way back in 1980, knocking 1,250 feet of the bridge into Tampa Bay and killing 35 people. That was fog - looks like this is weather related too.

CNN reporting that 2nd bridge, one used to divert traffic has now been hit!!! 2nd bridge has not yet collapsed, but damaged.

Now, they are saying a SECOND bridge has been hit..a hole in it? Don't know if the same barge hit the second bridge or not, but they are saying people are stranded on the bridge and they are trying to rescue them.
