SamAdams76::I always wondered what happened to the infamous skipper of the ill-fated Valdez..

From biography.com::"Hazelwood, who had a history of substance abuse, was fired by Exxon, lost his license to captain a ship, and was slapped with criminal charges (for leaving command of the ship to an officer not certified to handle it inside the Sound) as well as civil suits. He was convicted of only one charge, however: negligent discharge of oil. That verdict was later overturned on appeal. The Valdez still sails with a different name, the Exxon Mediterranean, but Hazelwood, again licensed to captain a ship, has yet to resume his career. Unable to find employment in the same field, he has had to try his hand at other seafaring jobs, such as lobster fishing. Hazelwood currently lives in Huntington, New York, and works as a paralegal and maritime consultant at Chalos & Brown, the New York law firm that represents him."

I too live in Huntington and do my boating on Huntington Bay. Fortunately, I've never had the circumstance of running into him...or should I say having him run into me. :|

Hazelwood has recently paid his fine and done his public service and his account is now considered paid.
