May 26, 2002 -- Investigators believe Chandra Levy was lured to her death by someone she knew or slain by a predator who methodically stalked her, police sources said yesterday.

Evidence collected at the spot where her remains were found points away from her being killed in a random attack while she was jogging, the sources said.

BTW...If Condit decided to have her "offed" by a third party. He would have MADE SURE he had an alibi.

You can bet your bottom dollar on that Raven...his alibi would be solid.....I can taste Condit's complicity in this...I know it!

but note it would be hard to dump a body in daylight.

Ok, did these keystone detectives ever think it could have been dumped at nighttime?

Condit never wanted her to bring her ID or anything, so from what I understand, whenever she met with Condit she only took her keys, never her ID or purse... just a thought...

There is rocks all over the place... this was shown on TV. Also bashing her head hard enough would crack her skull and knock her out cold. Her brain would swell & bleed and she would probably go into a coma and just die there. It would not be as messy as you think it would be.

Right now we really do not know how she died, but we know it took them at least 12 months to find her body, what makes you think anyone would have noticed her laying on that slope out cold with her brain swelling and bleeding. Besides her body laid before it turned to bones and no one found it.

I wonder if Condit was in the military at one time, does anyone know? It would be easy for him to snap her neck and leave her for dead. Remember she trusted him, besides he may have parked his car onside the park in the residential area, for a quick escape. Besides I sure he always had a change of clothes with him at all times in truck of his car.

I could go on for days with ideas on how he might have done it... let's just hope we all find out how she was killed and who did it soon.

Yeah... she was small about 110 pounds, probably a tiny pants size 3 or 5.

Had they searched the area with dogs long ago they would have found her and had much more to work with.

The park was searched with dogs on at least two of the three searches done last year. Had the dead body of Chandra Levy been in the park at that time the dogs would have found her. Unlike the DC police, the dogs are very competent.

These keystone cops still haven't classified this as a homicide...What a bunch of idiots, they couldn't find their arses in a freakin snowstorm....No excuse for the investigative blunders in this case...you don't send out trainees, to find a missing person...What a joke! Charles Ramsey and the rest of the phony baloney cops should be fired....they are an embarrassment!

I think they are trying to find Condit before they call it a homicide, suddenly Mr. Condit cannot be found... hmmm I wonder if they have searched Rock Creek Park for him yet?

"I still don't buy it. There are way too many dots to connect, and too many "could have" and "might have" suppositions in all of this. The downside of being caught for murder is too much, and the upside too little, even for a congressturd. Sure Condit had some motive--I just don't think it was enough motive. Most often, the simplest solution is the best."

People commit murder for all kinds of reasons (even ones that seem quite small), and murders connected with illicit sexual relationships are not at all uncommon. That's why anyone who was having a sexual relationship with a murder victim is checked out by police. In this case, the simplest explanation IS that Condit killed her. He has lied about too many things and began lying from the very beginning when her parents were just trying to track her down. He also has a substantial gap in his whereabouts for just the time she disappeared.

Chandra was not wearing appropriate shoes for an 8-mile jog (she left her exercise-appropriate shoes in her apartment) plus she did NOT jog outside being security conscious and having joined a gym just so she wouldn't need to exercise outside. She had taken criminology courses and worked for a police department. She was not a likely candidate for a random killer (they pick naive victims), and she did not go to the park without a reason. She did not take her cell phone even though she had been trying for two days to get ahold of Condit (24 pages in 48 hours). Why did she not take her cell phone so he could get ahold of her while she was walking? Because she was meeting him, or thought she was, that's why.

Furthermore, any healthy man can bash in the head of any small woman especially if her hands are tied up. And any healthy man can dig a shallow grave, plus such graves almost always end up being shallow because digging a deep hole is much more work and takes much longer than most people realize, and once you start digging, you don't end up digging any longer than absolutely necessary.

The simplest solution to this case, by far, is that Condit either did it himself or hired it done, and I am of the opinion that he did it himself. This case does not have the hallmarks of either a random serial killing or of a professional hit. It looks planned, but amateur (the brother, however is a possibility which would still make it amateur).

We knew these things would leak out but it is helping the murderer to know what he is up against in his silence.

There were previous reports of Condit asking women to carry no identification when they met with him. Condit's apartment and Levy's are both adjacent to Rock Creek Park, about 2 miles apart. Condit's wife was in town. Levy would have gone to meet Condit in the park if asked. Condit could easily get away from his wife for a while by saying he was going for a jog. Lots of things need looking into. None of them may be true, but they need to be checked.

What a stupid excuse. They didn't search there because of the "rough" terrain? Probably didn't want to spill their coffee and doughnuts.

you would need dogs to search an area like the one she was discovered in. It is hard to believe they did not search this area. Also, Condit did not meet with the reporter at the time he stated. Does anyone know if Mrs.C went to the luncheon? Has there ever been varification of the doctor appointments?

You have nailed it.

My only question is the dogs and the odor. It's hard for me to think of trained dogs( they were trained weren't they?)not being able to 'wind' a body at hundreds of feet.
But then the DC police had their top men on the case, Curly, Larry and Moe.
