[history]
May 26, 2002 -- Investigators believe Chandra Levy was lured to her death by someone she knew or slain by a predator who methodically stalked her, police sources said yesterday.
Evidence collected at the spot where her remains were found points away from her being killed in a random attack while she was jogging, the sources said.

I remember that sighting. It might be in an earlier timeline list here at FR.

I don't remember much speculation about a definite apartment setup, but there was talk that Congresscritters do have their own hideaway outside of Washington, remote and rustic and private.

Condit last voted on May 22, 2002 at 8:23PM.
He did not vote at the first vote the next day at 10:27am. Sounds like he knew about the body before 10:27am, when was it found? Does he have a DC police informer with his numbers? He has not voted since (9 times). Sounds like he was the only one that was very sure who it was at 10:27am.

Chandra was found at approximately 9:30 a.m., if memory serves.

22d or 23d? When did the police announce it was her?

I had forgotten all the details in that sick, sick article about Condit and that woman. Who does he think he is, so important that his dead body needs to be moved from a hotel bed? What political career in the afterlife does he think he won't get if his body is found en flagrante? Gee whiz. It CAN'T be to avoid giving his wife pain. He does that well enough while alive.

Ok, we can't read as much into it. But he did skip town pretty quick.

Before she vanished on May 1, 2001, she looked on the Web for directions to the Klingle Mansion, a mile from where she was found. Does anyone know what kind of place this Klingle Mansion is? Is it a museum? Why would one go there or arrange to meet someone there? Is it a public place?

Klingle Mansion is in Rock Creek Park. Chandra was found about a mile from the Mansion. It's now part museum, part storage, I believe.

Bump and kudos for posting and linking that article.
Dogbyte's comment on that thread is worth repeating:
It's sleazy, but on these type of big stories, the tabs seem to have a better track record than CNN or the Washington Post.

The Klingle Mansion is significant ONLY as a reference point in arranging a rendezvous in that HUGE park. Say you wanted to meet someone at Six Flags or Coney Island or you-name-it, so you say "meet me at the ferris wheel, roller coaster" etc. WHAT those places are all about is NOT the point--same thing with Klingle Mansion. Landmark!

On other threads we have these Chandra Chronologies--they bring to MY mind the things we DON'T know, more than what do know. Chandra's personal life centered around Condit, that's obvious. So we need the missing element of exactly what went down between THOSE TWO PEOPLE leading up to her disappearance & to be credible the info would need to FIT THE REALITY of their past relationship--its huge centrality to Chandra. But to hear ol' "Gare" tell it, no big thing went down(but he DID "break it off", right?) that should interest anyone searching out her fate. Ha! So she was going back home--no more Gary--and she's ok with it????? No demands on Condit????? No problemo????? I don't buy it. Goes against everything else we KNOW! This factual-but- missing element is, IMO, KEY TO THE CASE, and answers need to be DEMANDED of CONDIT!

Is it possible that there might be something, totally different and potentially much bigger than Chandra Levy going on with Condit? I personally think you are right. I think the "other" has something to do with why Condit was in Luray. He was also on the argricultural committee and I've heard of federalizing land down there, so the "other" could be any number of things. Since Levy was found in the park, I no longer think Condit killed her. Before I wasn't sure. I think had he known where her body was, he would have had it moved to a safer location. Instead, he wasn't sure what was going on but suspected the people involved in his "other" activities took care of Levy for some reason and he was down in Luray to meet with a contact to learn more. His watch still figures in this some way too, in a way that could link him to the murder. I'm just not sure how.

I dont believe the pregnant Chandra was the motive. Levy's mother said last year that Levy was NOT pregnant. She had discussed her "cycle" with her just several weeks before her disappearance and she was regular. I think the news she mentioned to her aunt had something to do either with her job or something she learned about Condit.

He didn't participate on votes on the House floor on Thursday, after Chandra's body was discovered. Hmmm. How unusual is that for him?

But if her mother discussed her menstrual cycle with Chandra
"several weeks" before Chandra's disappearance, it is possible Chandra had just missed a period. How many weeks before her disappearance did they talk about this? Also, didn't Chandra just go to a doctor?
Whatever the reason, Chandra must have made demands on Condit, either for a permanent relationship or some other demand.
