The quote below has often been repeated with several variations. Recent research has gone back to the source, to squelch distractions.
"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to keep and bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved always to be always possible."
Sen. Hubert H. Humphrey
"Know Your Lawmakers", Guns Magazine, p. 4, February 1960
I assume the above quote date is correct, 1960. This is before the freedoms of this society were questioned and exploited by the Left after the assassinations of JFK (63), RFK, MLK (68). All three assassinations were committed by persons of very doubtful mental stability, and in the case of Oswald there was ample warning his magazine was shy a few rounds.
Most of the Left still focus on symptoms of society's problems rather than cause, such as their erroneous theory that poverty causes crime. It doesn't! Crime IS the cause of poverty.
Assassinations are not caused by guns, but by the mentally ill. From Gabriel Princeps, who shot Archduke Ferdinand, to Dillon and Klebold at Columbine, and all those in between, it has been our ability to ignore the mind sick assassin in our midst. Rather than a lack of gun control, it has been society's inability to control violence by not recognizing those that are violent. That is the real killer.
Maybe someone from MN can clarify.
Luckily, Einstein shut him up and he didn't explain the method before he died.
We can only pray the Klintoon's successors haven't hired a logician of comparable brilliance.
Most of Clintons successors and followers are drug addled idiots and sixties leftovers(or sixties wannabes). They have no original thoughts.
