It can when trapped inside a building. It burns very fast and with a lot of force. I have never seen a house survive an NG explosion. Also, with all the other chemicals people keep in their houses that are flammable, you get a lot more power... especially if it causes aerosol canisters to explode from the pressure.

If that was a gas grill that did that amount of damage then maybe we should consider banning gas grills...

Are natural gas explosions somehow less likely now after the FBI warning? If it's proven to be a natural gas explosion, will you believe it's a coverup? What I'm getting at is, have you made your mind up already?

True enough, it could be about anything. They way things are going these days, the first thing that comes to a lot of minds is bombs, but the cause could be any number of things, some foul, some not.

Minor explosions could even be aerosol cans cooking off.Having personally thrown these in a bon fire, they don't make that much of an explosion and noise compared to the rest of the fire.

When I was a kid, I found out the hard way that giving your dog chili is a very bad thing to do.

If that was a gas grill that did that amount of damage then maybe we should consider banning gas grills or fire them at Al Quaida...

I agree that everyday accidents occur all the time, but that is no reason to automaticaly assume that it could not have been a terrorist attack without knowing any facts. This is not aimed at you, just people in general. I am sure that alot of people who believe flight 800 was an accident also. It would seem that the internal fuel tank theory, which has never happend before, would take a backseat to a terrorist attack, which has happend even before 9/11.

"Some local resident speculating that it was someone cooking with a gas grill inside their apartment. Hmm lets see, more major train derailments in one year then in 10, more buildings exploding in one year then in 10, more planes blowing up, crashing in one year then in last ten, yup sounds like just a bunch of coincidences to me (/sarcasm off).
Sounds to me like a lot of covering up. But what do I know.

Commercial gas supply is 3-5psi... residential is way below 1 psiRight-o, but a 3/4' line at 7" wg can create an inferno.

Does the Fox News Network have a live stream?

distribution lines carry the gas at high pressure (300 psi) to regulator stations throughout acity. At these regulator stations, the pressure is reduced to (10 psi) for transmission through a network of distribution lines and is finally received into homes and businesses at (.25 psi). A business can request up to 5psi in pressure.

When I was a child a house in my community blew up from NG and my family went to look at the site. It was incredible ..... everything was shredded .... not a trace of a house or its contents left ...... think of some of the pics you have seen of F5 tornado damage.
The pics I've seen on tv don't look like that at all ...... but the place I saw was a stand-alone house, which could make a difference. In this case today, the initial explosion could have caused others apartments to catch fire ...... after all, they are all made of combustible materials.
I'm not speculating on the cause ..... just making an observation.
