I don't disagree with anything you wrote except how you wrote it. You're right hispanics are a pseudo-race and yet Buchanan is agreeing with the liberals that it is one. Why agree with them that it is? We certainly don't do ourselves any good by acquiescing to the liberal desire for more race based division. As you say "I'm sure many Hispanics don't agree with it." These hispanics may be persuaded to the conservative side if we don't run around telling people who believe that they're white that they're not. When we do we drive those who might agree with us by fear to the waiting liberals.
I'd rather they thought of themselves as American and I reject tribalism as a basis for nationality. America is not based on tribalism. Race-based anything is not good for this country. We are not multi-cultural because we've rejected tribe as a basis for determining who is and who isn't an American. The liberals will never help, it's up to us to reject divison by race.

My wife logs crime statistics as part of her dispatching tasks. There is a specific "white - non-hispanic" category and a "white - hispanic" category. Criminal activity by hispanics had previous been lumped into the "white" category to dilute and hide it. I think there is also a "non-white hispanic" version as well. The statisticians are trying to get it right by differentiating between actual race and the label "hispanic".
