"you assume they were incomptetant. I assume they couldn't find the body until it was moved there at a later date." seeing as how this park area was canvassed thoroughly last year during the massive "womanhunt", i'd say you're right on the mark.

Yes, this is probaly not his first murder. I think her body was put back into the woods so that he could get more sexual kicks from the fact that he could kill women and get away with it even if the body was found. Condidit probably recovered the body from the Luray, Virginia cave where he had hidden it and put it in Rock Creek Park in the belief that, once her body was recovered, it would somehow exhonerate him, or at least put the entire episode to rest.
I don't think that is going to happen.

Occam's razor demands that we favor the simplest explanation: that Levy did not know her killer and was the victim of a random crime. This is a gross misapplication of Occam's Razor. Most murders are not "random", quite the contrary. Any law enforcement person will verify that 80-90 percent of all murders are committed by someone who was close to the victim. Using Occam's Razor, Chandra was in fact probably murdered by someone she knew.

Absolutely -- the writer knew about Occam's Razor, but not enough about murders to know how to use it.

I still wouldn't rule out Gary Condit as a suspect. The general reaction in Modesto is a mixture of shock, outrage and sadness.
