Its good that you can be civilized and rational even on "hot topics" like the civil thats why me( and mackattack for instance) always liked you. When someone resorts to illogical ad hominems it poisons everything LOL.

I don't mind folks who lack appreciation for the good bad or ugly of Southern heritage. I just like folks willing to admit the able points or faults of either side. That you can write of Forrest without deeming anyone who admires his fighting skill a virulent racist speaks volumes....plus a little humour helps. Some folks on these threads are all aganda and show no magnanimity. I am an American first but I'd be a shriveling coward if I didn't stand up for my ancestors to some degree even if part of their cause (slavery obviously) has now been judged to have been quite wrong and rightfully doomed by history....the dustbin thing you know. Southerners have always and probably always will bristle at being told what's good for them by Yankee do-gooders who revel in the easy (no cost to themselves) lofty position of being anti-slavery. It's too easy in today's world. It's like being anti-child molester relative to the age we live in. I will always judge history and it's more visible personalities relative to the times in which they lived. According to the lofty ideals espoused by many on South bashing threads we would have a hard time admiring even Churchill today. I do admire him btw aside from some of his questionable moves in WWI.

How is Mack anyhow?...why'd she leave?
