Here in so-called "liberal" Illinois, we kicked out an incumbant Clintonite Democrat in our LAST Senate race (in fact, we were the only state in that election to do so). We plan to do it again. Conservative Republicans, Moderate Republicans, Reagan Democrats, and even some Libertarians have rallied around
Durkin is unabashed pro-life, pro-SDI, pro-soverignity, pro-voucher, pro-ANWR drilling, pro-capital punishment, pro-local control, respects the 2nd amendment, and is anti- federal tax.
Phil Gramm's coming here to campaign for him, in light of the fact that DICK Durbin got the lowest vote total of ANY statewide Democrat candidate in the primary-- even lower than Carol Moseley-Braun in '98. Contrary to claims that he's invincible, Durbin has LOST statewide before. Twice. There is a liberal Democrat columnist in the Sun-Times who is constantly fretting over the fact that "saavy Durkin could be Durbin's toughest opponent yet". Durbin's not nervous yet... but he should be. :-)
