I skimmed all the posts,I sure as hell hope the cops had an eye on what Condit does, phone calls/body posture/unexplained trips etc. etc. etc. BEFORE this hit the news.....

Damning for the DC police? I beg to differ. Civil workers are never are held accountable in the city of DC because to do so would be rascist, sexists, etc.. Just look at Marion Barry.

Skeletal Remains Found in Rock Creek Park
Written by Gary Reals
Metropolitan Police Chief Charles Ramsey says skeletal remains have been found in Rock Creek Park. Detectives in the Chandra Levy case are also on the scene. When asked if there was a chance the skull belongs to Chandra Levy, DC Police Chief Charles Ramsey said, "At this point in time we really don't know, it's certainly a possibility."
Police say a pedestrian walking his dog near the area of Brandywine and Broad Branch Streets discovered what appears to be a human skull at around 9:30 am. Chief Ramsey says at this time, "we are unable to determine" if the remains are those of a woman.
Since they have a full skull it should be relatively easy to run an ID check through dental records. That should take approximately 24 to 36 hours. Investigators are expected to take the next several days to search the heavily wooded area for the rest of the body.
Police have searched the same area before for Chandra Levy, a former Capitol Hill intern. Levy has been missing since April, 2001. The case gained national exposure when it was revealed former California congressman Gary Condit had an affair with Levy.
Police believe Chandra was in Rock Creek Park near the time of her disappearance. A search of her computer revealed a search on mapquest.com for an obscure area of Rock Creek Park known as Klingle Mansion. Chandra Levy was known to go to Rock Creek Park and jog there.

I remember watching that search. It really was a joke. Just following the footpaths. Didn't they use dogs to sniff out for bodies?
To: AKA Elena
Oh, listen to Cyril Wecht! Saying the body may have been moved there AFTER the search, when they knew the area was not going to be searched anymore. This is going to get crazy!
I cannot remember -- did they say last year that her WalkMan was missing?

My favorite photoop was a line of them closely line patrolling an open an manicured lawn. I said to myself at the time - "what about those trees and bushes back there! Look there!"

Condit was interviewed by a San Francisco paper several months before Chandra disappeared. He said he kept a bicycle in his office so he could sneak out for rides in Rock Creek Park.

Dan Rather must be really pissed off right now.I may have to actually break down and watch Captain Dan tonight. Just curious.

It's worth noting that Condit lost his Democratic primary and therefore won't be in Congress after this year anyway.

I would think that it is probably not a serial killer. Most of the time those guys want people to find the body... If it was buried (as it seems) who the hell would do this in a park? I would think that it would have to be someone with few connections that could be relied upon to move the body out of the city, and that the murder was not nessesarily planned. If this is her body, Condit will be on the investigators top 1 list.

Who the heck could they have gotten it from? Probably happened the usual way: some guy letting his dog run free in the park, and the dog came back dragging a bone.

People die all over this country all of the time, unnoticed by anyone. It's sad ---
Identity of skeleton found near I-5 unknown
Wednesday, May 22, 2002
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES
Investigators are trying to determine whether a skeleton found Monday was that of a man or a woman, and how the person died, said Jan Jorgensen of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department.
Human bones were found by a cleanup crew in a wooded area west of Interstate 5 near the 128th Street Southwest exit, authorities said. The remains may have been there for as long as a year, Jorgensen said.

If this is Chandra Levy, Rather is going to be FORCED to report it, unless he calls in sick and someone else does it. All of those loyal CBS NEWS viewers (all 27 of them) are going to be shocked that they haven't heard a word about this...then they will, of course, blame it on President Bush.
