U.S. to sue Florida over 2000 voting
MSNBC ^ | 5/21/02

Posted on 05/21/2002 2:52:19 PM PDT by Mean Spirited

The government will file three lawsuits against Florida counties alleging voting rights violations resulting from the bitterly disputed 2000 presidential election, a Justice Department official said Tuesday.

TWO OTHER LAWSUITS also will be filed, in Missouri and Tennessee, by the department’s civil rights division, Assistant Attorney General Ralph Boyd told the Senate Judiciary Committee. The lawsuits will allege disparate treatment of minority voters, improper purging of voter rolls, “motor voter” registration violations and failure to provide access to disabled voters, Boyd said. Other charges, he said, include failing to allow voters with limited proficiency in English to have assistance at the polls and failing to provide bilingual assistance.

....improper purging of voter rolls...

That's the one that really matters.
The Scumocrats in Florida were really jumping up and down and hollering over Katherine Harris' purging of the voter rolls. This process eliminates a lot of dead and fabricated people. The scumbag Democrats don't like that one bit.

Roll purging has been a issue for as long as I can remember. Dems used it in Chicago and in New York for years.

It looked to me like Florida did it right but the Dems were dragging in voters to the polls from everywhere. They are the ones confusing the issue.

Motor votor is another boondoggle! The most common violations are not intentional but involve the paperwork forwarding and data entry.

What a mess they have made of what should be a simple process. The fact will always remain the some people are just not qualified or responsible to vote. Yet every election cycle they bus them in by the thousands to vote straight tickets. Scary...................

Face it. Both parties are now big-government, politically-correct, best-government-that-money-can-buy parties, and neither can be trusted with the national security of the USA. I won't be voting for either incompetent in the next presidential election. My local government races are another matter. To he!! with both of the big-spending, lying, incompetent national re-election machines. I threw Newt's mail away unopened today as I do with all national advocacy and political groups.

It's not pleasant to contemplate being a man without a country.

Don't forget the new Electronic touch screen voting which can be manipulated and have no paper trail. The point of all of this of course is as discussed in many article durring the presidential election. We no longer control the vote. It is being manipulated by non Americans and tweaked even more if that does not do the trick. Voting is actually a joke now. If you control the populationn centers then the votes in the rual areas do not matter. They are more than canceled out by the big city votes which are manipulated. He who controls the ballot box.........

Also a smart move because it takes the wind out of the RATs sails that the GOP is against minority voting.

In any case, this means the Dems will probably keep the Senate. We're going to need a miracle to have a prayer of taking it back and keeping Lincoln Chafee or someone like him from changing it over by crossing the aisle.

A substantial Republican turnout (>70%) would secure ANY election, regardless of the attempts by the dims to perpetrate vote fraud. And BTW, I firmly believe that it has been due to vote fraud by the dims that they have been able to secure their status over the past 20+ years. Very few people would vote for them given their "true" agenda. For example: "Give us all of your income, and we will spend it for you as we see fit.", "Give us your guns, you don't need them.", etc.

I think this is a good thing.

I agree, especially considering Boyd's bio. Neutralizing the issue before the next election can't hurt.

I suppose Jeb should order his own investigation. Using the feds to attack a state that has already been attacked by one of the two major political parties in the country seems a little unfair. What are they basing their information on?That commie civel rights investigation? Of course this case will heat up just in time to used for the 2002 elections.

Ahhh.... but you failed to read the earlier post:

"Carl Cameron said this started when Clinton was still president. Maybe politically Ashcroft couldn't say no."

So a lawsuit that started BEFORE Bush/Ashcroft had any power. The choices?

1. Let the suits go forward and settle once and for all ALL of the voting discrepancies including those that were tossed out ie military.

2. Stop the suits and forever be suspected/accused of "stealing the election", AND being willing to cover it up afterwards because you have the power to do so.

It's really a no-brainer here.

The issue is that robbery with a gun, for example, is worse than robbery without one.

Why?

And as far as the founding fathers supporting federal crime laws, can you please give me an example of what you're talking about? I mean obviously, they thought that Treason, Piracy and counterfeitting was under federal jurisdiction and included that into the constitution. What other crimes did they believe were under federal jurisdiction and why didn't they include them in the constitution (or a general definition of crime)?

This is something I thought would happen, after I read a recent newspaper article where Gov. Bush, K. Harris and others cited a number of reasons for declining to attend the newest meeting of Mary Frances Berry. I meant to post the article, but forgot.

It was pretty clear that FL, and only FL, of all the states where voting irregularities were alleged, is the one place Marry Frances Berry wants to focus on -- despite the fact FL is has done more to upgrade and reform voting than any other state.

Consequently, instead of this headline:

U.S. to sue Florida over 2000 voting

I think the headline of this article should have been:

Berry's Last Ditch Effort to Fire Up FL's Sleepy Dem Base -- and Oust Jeb

Oh, forgive me -- I see now they have thrown in Tennessee and Missouri for good measure, so that it won't look like they are going after Gov. Bush. But, I believe that's all this is really about.
