When Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School snagged National Security Advisor Condie Rice to be its June 4 commencement speaker, we thought it was a coup--in the nice, not the foriegn policy sense of the word.

But according to the Tattler, the student newspaper (of Bethesda H.S.) some folks are grumbling.

'Lately, with the inception of the Peace Studies class at Bethesda-Chevy Chase, an increasing number of students are taking offense to her stand on national defense specifically towards the war in Afghanistan,' writes Tattler reporter Michael Beacker.

Ah, I remember Mr. McCarthy - he was among the first to insist that international sanctions be employed in Iraq prior to the Gulf War as a "peaceful" alternative to military intervention, then among the first a couple of years later to scream about how many Iraqi children those very same sanctions were killing. Mr. McCarthy is a grand advocate of "peace studies" no matter how many people they end up killing. His, ah, "intentions" are sound...

If they invited Ms. Albright things would be okay. However, since Condi is from that "other" political party she is not welcome. The peace "thing" is just a facade.

A former co-worker of mine took a class from McCarthy, perhaps at Trinity, she said he had them go out & LITERALLY hug a tree. He still gets my vote for wackiest op-ed writer ever. And his own paper misspelled his name! There's no "e" in Colman.

sending PC-liberal scumbags in to poison our young children's minds.'

They are not 'liberal' or 'PC' or 'progressive' or 'leftist' or any other such bullsh*t new-speak.

The are correctly referenced as 'hard core, unrepentant neo-Stalinists'.

I could realy use some help down here in the language war.

How about if we promised not to make any efforts to interdict terrorism in Bethesda-Chevy Chase?

Reckon that would make 'em happy?

I was secretary to a well-known Peace Studies Program for over 8 years. They're nice folks and they mean well but WAY off the bubble when it comes to this sort of thing. They think "peace, love and understanding" will solve all of our problems with those who would war against us.

Does anyone remember what Barbra(WA-WA)Walters said when asked why the ABC execs said that the anchors couldn't wear American flag lapel pins after 9-11? She said, paraphrasing: "We don't want to confuse people" Let's break that word CONFUSE down to see what she really meant.

CON-as in; The media has been CONning the American people for a long time(especially the youth), trying to make us think that using military force to defend ourselves is barbarian. Trying to make us believe that sharing our wealth with those that hate us and want to destroy us will make them like us. Trying to make us believe that socialist Europe is more civlized than we are and that if we don't want to fall behind we better jump on the NWO train and fast, because sovereignty has no place in todays world.

FUSE-as in; If we show any sort of patriotism and loyalty toward America, the common people might follow suit and FUSE together and do whatever it takes to keep our country free and sovereign, making all our hard work, degrading this country null and void.

BTW, I think this teacher needs to be hog tied, horse whipped and then sent over to our MEN and WOMEN, fighting and dying for our country, with this article glued...no stapled to his forehead. And then these CHILDREN need be forced to look at pictures of the dead, mutilated bodies of the 9-11 victims while Condi Rice and some salty war verteran take turns paddling them.

But that's just my opinion I could be wrong......but I'm not.

Here is the transcript of one of this idiots speech's

Coleman McCarthy Spreads Insightful Peace Teachings to Fall Semester 2001
Washington Center Students

October 29, 2001 (Washington, D.C.)- Once again Colman McCarthy director at The Center for Teaching Peace, motivated students with a thought-provoking lecture on peace teachings in 2001. McCarthy spoke to Washington Center students at the Fall 2001 Presidential Lecture Series in the main auditorium of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). He addressed students' concerns and fears in regards to the recent terrorist attacks of September 11.

McCarthy extended the following principles for reaching inner peace: prayer, community service and the practice of peaceful alternatives. He reminded the students that, "peace is a result of love, furthermore love is more than an emotion but a command to action."

McCarthy asked students, "How do you want to serve society when you are ready?" He stressed the importance of experiential education in college urging all students to be involved in community service. "Get yourself out of the classroom," demanded McCarthy.

"There are peaceful alternatives to violence," explained McCarthy. He commented on the great leaders of the world who practiced peace such as Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King Jr. drawing from their examples of peaceful alternatives.

McCarthy notes the September 11th crisis as an example of "Hot violence, being immediate outrageous and wrong." Furthermore he explained the four solutions to violence as; military, political, legal and moral. "Morally we need to seek forgiveness between both countries," explained McCarthy, "When we demonize another country we don't get very far."

Amy Preder of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee asked how should the United States respond to Ben Laden and the Al Queda network in a peaceful manner. McCarthy responded, "Use the same response as Reagan did with The Soviet Union, and talk out your grievances."

Dustin Waybright of West Virginia Wesleyan College asked how do you promote peaceful solutions in light of the terrorist attacks of The United States. McCarthy responded that in no means is he excusing the action but rather stressing that the main motive of the U.S. should be to search for the grievance and find a solution. McCarthy concluded the lecture with the challenging advice, "If you care about peacemaking you don't have to go out and change the world just keep the world from changing you, if you care about peacemaking there is only one word that matters…start."
