I would prefer to have citizens and pilots carrying

I see no problem with the pilots however, your personal gun is for your personal self-defense. Just because you have carry permit that does not make you a credible defender of other people and no one on that plane has delegated that to you. 95% of all carry permit holders have NO idea how they would react in a hijack situation. They may pull the gun and then get buck fever or just empty the magazine at every thing in sight. I have a carry permit and I have a very strong opinion that if needed I could kill another person but I may not and most people cannot honestly say they could either.

I agree that my CCW gun is for my self defense. I take it to the range often to maintain my marksmanship skills, but I don't carry it often. I wouldn't carry it on an aircraft without a release of liability from the airline. The pilots need similar release of liability for defending the aircraft. The probability of getting such a release is so remote that it hardly bears any further consideration.
