------------------------------------------------------------------------ To: RJayneJ My nomination for Essay of the Week is right here! :) I second, third, and fourth Summers nomination! So well written I actually cried and felt the cheers of the crowd, as well as their hope! They know how to appreciate this country!

No, this isn't me. I left as an E-4 (this soldier is a private). But I salute you still the same.

Looks like it's unanimous!
Andrew! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. I was a little younger than you when Ike shook my hand. I still feel the thrill. May today always bless you the same way! My prayers are added to yours for a free Cuba!

I read a nebulous "thousands" in one of the Miami Herald reports online, but without a doubt, I heard a report on FOXNews, say "10,000" were there. Of course, they could have upped the numbers a bit, but that's what they reported immediately after the speech.
Congratulations on being there!!

I have NO problem with sanctions against Cuba.
But can somebody explain to me why we have sanctions against Cuba but not China?

Viva Cuba Libre y mil gracias a los Cubanos en Florida que votaron por Bush!

I second the motion....a great young person......nice to know there are some good teens here (though I am just about not one anymore, as I am 19 and graduated from HS Saturday..oh no, I will be 20 next year....hard to believe it went by so fast).

Thank you for attending this blessed event. Your father must be proud and believe me when I say this is something you will never forget. Please keep up the good fight, your age of 15 is God send to us here at freerepublic.
My boys at the time were 9 and 4 when we went to a rally for GW when he ran for govenor the 2nd time here in Texas. I assured my sons we were going because this man was going to be the President one day. We were right up front and he shook their hands and spoke to them. Asked about their games because they were in uniform. Before we left eldest son had the camera and yelled, GOVENOR BUSH, he turned and when he saw who it was he waved to him. My son is soooo proud of that picture, we have blown it up framed it and put it in our loft where the tv, computer, playstation etc... In fact he loaned it to a boy in one of his classes for his year end reasearch project. The boy is doing it on GW. I am sooo worried that I won't get it back.
We are all proud of you here on freerepublic and keep up the good work. VIVA BUSH VIVA CUBA LIBRE

Holy crap man.....you just about made me cry when I read about your liberty book project. I rarely feel the need to cry, but this about did it (I only caught myself at the last second...lol). You are EXTREMELY inspiring.
May I ask how you are setting up this project etc? Maybe it could help me get some ideas. I am just curious because one thing I have been toying with is a project to deliver Bibles to every home in my town. There have been similar projects in other states (I think even Texas) where a group banded together to do this for the entire state. Well, I think that is a bit ambitious, but I would really love to do something like this....send a Bible and evangelistic tract to every home in my town. It would be expensive and that is my concern. Sure, most people will toss it in the garbage, but if one person comes to Christ it is worth it. (As a sidenote, I wonder if the people that say Calvinists like myself are lazy evangelists are reading this post).

Great post, Andrew. Thanks for sharing your day with the rest of us. It is so awesome to be able to attend in person to see and hear President Bush. FReep On!

CBS said the same thing...the younger people tend to look more toward their families in Cuba and ignore that Castro is benefited by supporting the lifting of the embargo. They essentially have an ends justify the means attitude. But, I must confess I understand where they are coming from and I frankly don't pretend like I would be any better if it was my family stuck in Cuba. It is good to see you support the embargo, however.

I feel like I am somewhat okay in Spanish after taking it 2 years. I think I understood that sentence, which makes me feel kind of excited...lol.

"The president began to speak in Spanish, but then said he didn't want to destroy a beautiful language and reverted to English."With his mangling of English, Bush is going to be out of languages soon.;^)
