Not according to the ants.
But that doesn't bother his defenders here nearly as much as the fact that he was high on socialim/Marxism.
But Marxism and atheism go together like tea and biscuits.
And I ask his deenders again, why do you mourn? Of what possible evolutonary value is there in mourning? Quit wasting your limited time and energy on fruitless endeavors. You have only so many years to satisfy the brainless, directionless, heartless god of natural selection. Do something productive.
I agree. People should go read Gould's books. They are company for a rainy weekend.
Didn't Jesus and his Apostles practice a form of communism, holding all property in common, divesting themselves of most of their worldly possessions? Didn't Jesus preach against the accumulation of wealth in this life? One could make the claim that Jesus preached communism -- indeed an entire communist movement in Latin America was based upon just this supposition.
Like any other ceremony, mourning exists to cement the group together. Mourning is not for the dead but for the living. The survivors of the group understand that each individual is important enough to the group as a whole to merit such a waste of resources; this in turn strengthens the ties of the individual to the group and increases the chances of the group's survival.
No.
Mat 26:6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
Mat 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat [at meat].
Mat 26:8 But when his disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose [is] this waste?
Mat 26:9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
Mat 26:10 When Jesus understood [it], he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
Mat 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
Mat 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did [it] for my burial.
Mat 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, [there] shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
What truth? That there is an Allah? That he'll be reincarnated? Pray tell, what truth?
Morality exists apart from God?
The truth you have rejected.
And his reincarnation as a pile of dung awaits since he was not Buddist, no?
Wouldn't the Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, et. al say that it is their truth I have rejected as well. Is their "truth" more or less "truthful" than yours? Why? Do they not provide equal "grounds" for believing? Faith, faith, faith!
There is even scriptural authority for your view. I don't know any other way to explain Abraham's dispute with God over the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah.
Do I hear an echo?
