Although both the liberal press and the fringe right-wing extremists who dislike President Bush would like for Americans to think that 9/11 was a failure of our Intelligence Agencies, nothing could be further from the truth.
9/11 was a failure of deterrence, not intelligence. It is simply not possible to know everything and stop every atrocity with that knowlege.
On the other hand, it is possible for our response to be so severe that future attacks are deterred...

Remember some time ago the President announcing that an Islamic religious 'front' was exposed as being terrorists [in America] that follow Bin Laden. President Bush cut their funding off.So now they do not get religious donations IS ALL.
They are still here, everywhere in our country. We are at war-IS RIGHT, like never before, as they have us surrounded. Our faulty intelligence and slap happy free trade globalization OPEN to the world got us-surrounded.
I feel that nothing has happened as yet as they needed time to re-group and plan. All awhile thay are still on our soil surrounding all of us. So,part of what you say may be true DETTERENCE. But bad intel and our very own corrupt federal agencies that have not been purged and cleaned up started this mess.

In order to deter future attacks we need to get the terrorists posted in 23 out and seal our borders. That may sound right winged fringe extremist to you possibly but there is no other answer.
