The only real problem I have with this article is the opening sentence:
Members of Delaware's General Assembly last week completed the bold step of banning smoking in nearly all public buildings.
That happened in 1994 - what this legislation does is bans smoking in nearly all PRIVATE buildings.

It hurts me to think that this was a great country once. Does anybody remember the Boston tea party? How about prohibition? How about Rosa Parks (take that you liberals!)? Why do people just accept every edict from the government like it's the word of God?
Socialism isn't creeping anymore, it's galloping.
Fight, God dammit!

Well, you can start by saying........ it ain't gonna work. Official figures out for the province of Ontario, where there are some moderate smoking bans, sales of beer and liquor are down 3%, but in Ottawa where we have a 100% ban, sales are down 11-13%, and those are figures from the horses mouth......... Breweries and Distillers. Owners here are still asking, "where are all the non-smokers we were promissed would fill the gab,"....... they are nowhere to be seen, our ban came into effect last August 1st. The City gave the Bingo Halls 1 million, due to losses incured, and thats just the beginning.

It hasn't hurt businesses in California. In spite of a so called "recession" I still have to wait 30+ minutes for a table in one of my favorite restaurants and forget a seat at the bar.
Even when I smoked (30 yrs) I had the courtesey to not smoke while eating in public places.
No smoking makes going out MORE pleasurable. If you want to smoke, go outside with the rest of the pasty grey people and smoke away.
BTW, your business is NOT private. There are all kinds of laws protecting the public where people gather. You probably don't like that, but that's the way it is.

Oregon's legislature slipped this one through in the dark of night.

The American Cancer Society expects the state's number of smokers to drop and the number of those quitting smoking to rise. That's because the smokers will move elsewhere.
