George Lucas, sometimes accused of reinforcing racial stereotypes with his movies, has done it again according to critics.

Latino critics in particular charge his latest Star Wars epic toys with American paranoia about Mexican immigration with its cloned army of swarthy lookalikes who march lockstep by the tens of thousands, and ultimately end up serving as Darth Vaders white suited warriors.

Yoda's scene at the end is worth $14.00 for tickets and popcorn.

I might just go see it again!

I just saw the trailer for that last night along with "Hart's War". Have you heard anything on that one? I'd see it anyway b/c Bruce Willis stars--and we got to support our (three or four)conservative actors! :-)

Jango didn't look remotely Latino to me--having lived in Hawaii for a little while, his Polynesian ancestry is obvious. Maybe this reporterette just doesn't know that many Latino men.

How neat that he's a Maori! They are famous for their warriors.

As for stereotypes, the real one is Anakin's former master. Even I winced at the clear NY Jewish stereotype, and I don't consider myself politically correct.

Temuera Morrison, who plays Jango, is in fact Maori.

Yep. He played one mean SOB in "Once Were Warriors"

I'm betting on Anakin putting a saber through Jar Jar in Episode III.

There is constant whining by certain groups. There was whining about the previous Star Wars film. There is just no end to this whining. After a while it won't mean anything.

I thought digital projection was shunned by the Amish. :) I saw The Phantom Menace in digital projection in 1999 in New Jersey....It was ok but no big breakthrough over a fresh celluloid copy. If I go see Attack of the Clones a second time I will see it in digital here and make another comparison to see if digital projection has improved since. At the showing I attended on opening day....besides the usual costumes and pre screening light sabre fight in front of the screen once the movie got rolling the only big cheer was when Jar Jar made his first appearance. It might have been an ironic cheer but it was there nevertheless.

Care to elaborate on this ? I didn't see a stereotype there at all.
