My friends, I want you to listen to my brilliant Hour One challenge to the Republicans in Congress. The Democrats are demanding top-secret documents prepared for the president on Osama bin Laden and Middle Eastern men training at our flight schools.
Ari Fleischer says the White House is working with congressional committees investigating the matter. Cheney warned against playing politics, and Condolleezza Rice gave a briefing. All that's fine, but if congressional Republicans do not repeatedly and loudly demand likewise for Sandy Berger, Madeleine Albright - and, yes, Bill Clinton - to get to the bottom of their failure to act on the Sudanese government's offer to hand over Osama bin Laden, then they're not worth supporting.
I am very serious about this. If the White House is going to contribute, it's up to House Republicans to borrow, beg or grow a spine and conduct themselves the way the Democrats would in these sorts of circumstances. If congressional Republicans don't assert themselves, Daschle Democrats are going to roll right over them in this investigation and it's going to turn out to be nothing more than a Robert Bork-type hearing.
This is not about blame or "gotcha." It's about facts. In the current See, I Told You So, I remind you that of my warning that foreign policy would be then-Governor Clinton's downfall - and now stories are coming out about exactly this sort of thing happening related to September the 11th. CNN reports that the United States was warned in 1995 of a plot to hijack airplanes and attack buildings, and sent a similar warning on September 11th...of 1999. Fight it, guys - now.
Yes, Dr. Keyes is articulate, informed and entertaining. I admire him and have even contributed to some of his failed campaigns. Unfortunately, the job of president takes leadership ability, something Keyes has never demonstrated. He has, however, demonstrated a consistent inclination to talk down to almost everyone and to argue as if his opinion is the only valid one. These traits won't get one elected president, much less make one an effective president.
Then you have not looked past your own prejudice against Bush. Just how would a man of low intelligence win an election that was a sure thing for Gore? Just how would this man be able to come into office after the Clintons, turn off the spotlight to the Clintons and turn the nation to looking to the future? How would he be able to handle the China crisis. How would he even think to try for a tax cut and get it through? How could a low intelligence president even survive in office much less win 80% approval rating? How could that president put into place a smooth running efficient change in command without the funds being released, without approval of his nominees and with no knowledge of how to be a president (as you suspect)? How would he be able to bring us out of a recession, how would he be able to take strong action when faced with an attack on American soil? How would he possibly manage a war?
Answer? He doesn't. It takes an awful lot to be successful as a president, to win the trust and affection of the voters, to put dignity, honor, respect back into government and a low intelligence man just could not do better than eke out an existence with people covering his blunders.
A low intelligence president would not take on tough issues - he would bide time. There would be no decisions - there would be stumbling from one crisis to another.
Now - none of this is happening to Bush which is why so many of use respect this man, why we trust him and his team and why we totally discount the democrat claims of low intelligence.
Those that cannot see what this president has done, that he accomplished a great portion of his campaign promises in the first year, might relook at that low intelligence business themselves.
I can tell you one thing about Keyes if he was president - it would be his way as he feels he is far superior that other mortals and they need him to make the judgements for them.
Keyes is an orator but I tend to believe that if in power he would listen to no one but his own counsel as - again I sense he feels his views are far superior to that of others.
His cheap shot at President Bush during a republican meeting in Dallas told me a great deal about Keyes and I would never value him as other than an orator.

No thanks, I don't believe I want one.
If you're going to insult Bush by calling him a "dim bulb" you should at least learn to spell.

That sort of leaves you being in a position without hope of improvement then, doesn't it?
I think you're right. Every time I read one of your mind-numbing posts I'm sure I lose another thousand brain cells.
