Sorry, but none of those other places were in our borders, either, and a lot of them were WAY beyond our borders when we acquired them.

Your argument on this point doesn't even reach the level of "specious."

OK, so now that you've identified a fairy-tale vision of victory--pray tell how we accomplish it WITHOUT coalitions.

You seem to see things more clearly than I because I don't have a good grasp of history. I am clueless about the Spanish-American War. I am really clueless about the UN. I go with my gut instincts (which are pretty reliable but tend towards pessimism) and what scanty knowledge I have.

I understand human nature, greed, power and I liked us a lot better when we were a struggling nation and didn't get involved in foreign entanglements.

I have become very cynical and think all our leaders have sold the little people out long ago. We used to be able to take care of ourselves within the family structure. All that has been swept away by idealogues.

Was Louisiana in our borders? Were the resulting territories in our borders initialy? The answer to this is no. However, they were part of the North American continent, and the pioneers felt it was their obligation to expand, and make America even greater than it already was.

However, Hawaii is nowhere near the borders that define North America. Again, Hawaii is not the subject here, just a beginning to what we see happening.

I second that welcome. We just can't have too much John Birch Society on this forum. In fact, I am glad they have taken time out from their busy site to bring their special brand of wisdom and insight into our little community.

I personally believe (and this is not a shot at you, just a statement) that one needs to be well educated about his history so that he can best function in the present, and eventually future.

Our founders certainly could not have forseen two world wars, the resulting UN, or even predicted that Middle Eastern terrorists would fly planes into buildings. What they could see though what creating political alliances would bring about, because they had a good understanding of history, and recognized that they were separate from Europe, Asia, and others.

Heaven only knows we see enough of the liberal media postings here and end up getting p'o'd about them. I believe in reading information from ALL sides - and reaching a decision myself as to where the truth is.

Could you tell me when the JBS is going to alert us as to when it will be safe to stop filtering our water for fluoride? I have been doing it since grade school. Also, can I now take my "Reagan is a commie" poster down?

I think President Bush knows full well who the enemy is. Unfortunately, the left has so changed the climate of this country with the PC garbage that to really effectively purge us of all threats would be so unacceptable that heads would roll for sure.
I don't think either, that anyone expected the terrorists to do what they did. It is obvious that threats were issued, but I doubt they were specific as to where and when. No one could have stopped them, especially with our laws now protecting even non citizens. Heck, the left complains now when Ashcroft tries to hold suspected terrorists!
Look how upset they got about the detainees in Cuba! This is a real problem that needs to be nipped in the bud right now.

"Did we know what was coming" ?

I thought I did, because Bill Clinton told me so several times. He said Osama is the boogie man, and we must destroy him. Then came several more incidents... Again... Osama is the Boogie man and we must destroy him.

So much for Clinton knowing who the Boogie man is.

Hawaii? Maybe we thought it would be a good place to establish a foothold? Halfway to the Far East, you know.

Welcome to FREEeeeeRepublic!

The Philippines were closer yet, and that gave us an excuse to get involved with Asian affairs.

The problem is our globocrats want to see us destroyed. When our Constitution was first written, the nations of Europe recognized that it prevented the United States from being politically involved with the rest of the world, and there were people back then who hated it.

It's the globocrats policies that have brought this on us. All the more reason why we need to become isolated.

Clinton didn't persue military action because it would not have served the globalists interests. While bin Laden is still alive, our government, and subsequently the UN, can use him as an excuse to impose further government intervention, and bring so much closer to becoming part of the world community.

Originally, Bush said that he was going to fight terror, and seek out Osama, and bring him to justice. However, his tune has recently been changed. This is what disturbs me. With no clear cut objectives, and reasonable objectives, how will we know that the threat has been eliminated?

The very worst thing about Bush is that he seems to think that Islam has not declared war on the USA, and he does not acknowledge the enemy. So if he does not even know who the enemy is, how can he fight it? The answer is, that he can't.

Your exactly right.

This is totally false: George Washington did NOT say we should be separate from the world. Washington's OWN foreign ministers were busy signing treaties with Spain, negotiating treaties with France, and engaged in vast trade treaties with ENGLAND. He said we should avoid "entangling alliances," (in the 1790s) when FRANCE AND PRUSSIA AND AUSTRIA were at war and the Frence, due to their own recent revolution, were possibly going to call on us to send troops there to fight the Austrians, with whom we had no beef.

You can't just extract phrases from history, any more than these alarmists can extract tiny bits of information and say "see, we knew." For Pete's sake, look at the information this guy cites: we had alerts that in ASIA the terrorists might hijack planes. Where were all the attacks so far? Gulf, Africa, overseas. The first WTC bombing was considered an exception. Most of our attention was on the overseas networks. Also, the guy cites an obscure airline report in ARABIC. Yes, we have Arabic reader/analysts in the CIA, but how much material can they get through?

Increasingly, this is like the Pearl Harbor crap that FDR "knew." We had information of a Japanese fleet at sea. But where? All indicators were, HEADING SOUTH to Singapore, which is where all the intel said they would hit, anyway.

So here we are, with all this intel, saying that the focus is overseas and we are supposed to put AA guns on the Empire State Building? I think not.
