GW Bush is the closest we're going to get to a conservative President in this day and age.

Since Dubya has increased NON-military domestic spending more in his first two years than anyone since LBJ (The Great Society), I fear for your brand of 'conservative'.

George W. Bush Isn't just 'my type of conservative' but the only 'type' of conservative that can win a national election and enact at least some conservative policies i.e. scrapping the ABM treaty, a tax cut, military build-up (planned before 9/11), attempts at Social Security reform, etc.

No, he isn't Buchanan or some other '100% conservative' that we might fantasize about but he's a conservative that can make a change. Third party ultra-conservatives don't get elected and all their bluster and promises to change government mean nothing without an office.

Whine about Bush all you want but you're dreaming if you think the voting public actually wants or would elect some hard-core, red meat conservative and that the libs, Dems and the media would not rip such a candidate to shreads. Bush is attacked daily and he's nowhere near the conservative you long for in the White House.

Get real.
