If the media was truely impartial, they would be asking Gore and the Democrats if they regret challenging the election results. For the first few months of Bushes Presidency they referred to him as stealing the election. One has to realize that this definitly impacted his ability to perform his duties.
Terror kingpin Osama Bin Laden may be preparing to bomb New York or Washington to avenge the U.S. attack on his secret bases in Afghanistan, according to a new report.
"We've hit his headquarters, now he hits ours," a State Department official tells Time magazine in this week's issue. "The game is tilted in Osama's favor until he's gone." The CIA as far back as 1996 was planning to "snatch" Bin Laden and bring him to the U.S. for trial. But the Saudi millionaire foiled the plot by staying away from countries eyed by the CIA, Time reports.
Bin Laden has been linked to bombings in Somalia in October 1993 that killed 18 U.S. troops and at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on Aug. 7 that killed 223 people.
His family owners of Saudi Arabia's richest construction firm disowned him and the Saudis stripped him of his citizenship after he turned radical in 1990. Bin Laden fled to the Sudan, then to Afghanistan.
American missiles struck and destroyed two of his Afghan bases Aug. 21 in retaliation for the embassy attacks. He has been in hiding since.
Bin Laden was indicted in New York last month on charges of masterminding the embassy slaughter, prompting a worldwide search and a $ 5 million reward for his capture.
Time says Attorney General Janet Reno invited 200 Washington metro policemen to FBI headquarters in October to map a simulated response to a terrorist attack. Among the exercises were four scenarios: a car bombing, a chemical-weapons strike at a Redskins football game, an explosive device in a federal building and an assassination attempt on Secretary of State Albright.
But the war games quickly deteriorated into interagency squabbling, disturbing Reno greatly, the magazine said.
Apparently, a Bin Laden terrorist ring planned an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baku,Azerbaijan, but was successfully broken up three months ago, according to the magazine.

Both the President and Joint Chiefs of Staff receive DAILY briefings from the CIA. With warnings of a major AlQaida attack pouring in from foreign intelligence services, including one from Russia stating "in the strongest terms" that an attack was imminent and that airliners would be used (Isveztia, Sept 13), it is beyond what I can believe that this subject was dealt with only once and in a general way during Presidential briefings and discussions.
We are being lied to.
Of course America's security agencies knew about Al Quaida - Osama ben laden was OFFERED to Clinton for capture years before 2001 - but that offer was not acted upon.
Why was that?
Answer: Clinton cared nothing about Protecting American interests and Americans from terrorist attacks. He viewed the American Presidency as his own "party time".
He was too busy with Monica, with spending millions to go after one Eric Rudolph in the NC mountains - remember that?, too busy using America's police agencies AGAINST HIS POLITICAL ENEMIES INSTEAD OF AGAINST AMERICA'S ENEMIES to do anything about OBL.
President Bush, in contrast, comes in and immediately starts the huge job of reforming all the agencies that Clinton had decimated. The terrorists know their time is short. They act.
Either lack of cooperation between FBI and CIA or a purposeful ignoring of the FBI memo about the terrorists in flight training - keeps that information from the President.
Even had he had it - THE PRESIDENT CANNOT GO AND ARREST PEOPLE - HE HAS TO TRUST THAT PEOPLE IN SECURITY AGENCIES KNOW THEIR JOBS AND ARE DOING THEM WELL!
This president was preparing to do what Clinton had left undone for all his years in power - go after America's enemies with force.
Nine months was not enough time to do what needed to be done to get us ready for war with the terrorists - and OBL and other enemies of this country knew that - which is, IMHO, why they acted when they did. They knew their time was short now that a real defender of America was in office.
