I am constantly amazed how stupid the RATs are... Don't they realize that when they hold their hearings and investigations the rebulicans will insist on a "Full Picture". Don't they realize that they will be targets as well. Don't they realize that Slick Willie was the one to drop the ball. If they don't allow the investigations to cover those issues, the republicans will walk and call it for what it is -- a demoRat Hack job. They are their own worst enemy!

Even better, it is possible the WH itself leaked this to goad the democrats into "using 9/11" as an election issue immediately following the almost universally accepted 'desparate' political attack over the photo (which I ordered yesterday from the RNCC :) ).

To a large degree, they, and the media, are still living in a pre-internet three major network world, where there was a signinficant lag time between an allegation and the truth. In those days (i.e. "Worst economy in 50 years"), the false allegation became the truth in the minds of many. Now, with widespread access to the Web, and with cable channels such as FOX News, these types of allegations are countered nearly immediately.

The public tires quickly of hearings (especially those that don't get around the clock coverage and that drag on for years).

In those instances, the accusation is made, the press runs with it for 2 weeks, and then the public takes it as fact.

When was the last time that you saw a retraction or apology as the lead off story on the nightly news? Did they spend 2 weeks on that to make sure that all their viewers caught the update?

Interesting thought, Max. I'll go further and say that the Repubs might have leaked it to avoid the liberals bringing it up two days before the election this fall.

Yep, by all means let's have a congressional investigation and go over all the missed opportunities to stop bin Laden from 1991 on. I would enter into the record the 1995 Kurt Russel movie EXECUTIVE DECISION, in which a bunch of Islamo terrorists hijack a jet with the intention of suicide-diving it into Washington DC. In that one, the Vice President authorizes Navy jets to shoot down the airliner, but fortunately Kurt and some SOF guys are aboard to take back the plane. So many eerie foreshadowings in this movie.
