[history]
A Sacramento private school has expelled a kindergarten student three weeks before the end of the school year, saying her mother's work as a nude dancer clashes with its Christian philosophy.
Christina Silvas, 24, of Rancho Cordova said one reason she took the job as a dancer at Gold Club Centerfolds off Highway 50 was so she could afford the $400 monthly tuition at Capital Christian School.

Based on what is in the article... the church has acted properly. The pastor attempted to reconcile her. Offered financial help, and spiritual guidance. She has chosen rebellion. And she has chosen to air it in a public forum. The church has no choice in this matter. It has acted properly.

Ever heard the term "stumbling block"?
To: Pal10523
This is shameful. For a school to call itself Christian school and act this way is shocking. I hope they change their thinking or stop calling themselves Christians. I heard about this on the radio on my way to drop my daughter off at (Christian) school this morning. I mentioned it to my daughter's teacher. For what it's worth, that particular Christian school teacher thinks that it is an un-Christian thing to do to that child.

"So, what sin was she guilty of?"...leading others into temptation?
The problem I have with the whole thing is the LITTLE GIRL! Who CARES whether mom really has buck teeth, or if it's just a bad photo! How does the KID feel about being tossed out of KINDERGARTEN, and torn away from her friends and her daily routine...because the elders or whatever they call themselves couldn't wait until the end of the school year to tell mom, QUIETLY :
"Sorry, but if you continue to break the rules of conduct which you agreed to in writing, you will have to find another school for for daughter NEXT YEAR" !!!
Would THAT have been so terrible? To take the well being of a four or five year old into consideration?
Does anyone remember the movie "Strip Tease" ? Well, the tabloids now have a REAL LIFE version of it to inflict upon us and to BASH THE REST OF US CHRISTIANS WITH, BECAUSE THE PUBLIC IS TIRED OF THE TRUE OR PHONY WITCH HUNTS AGAINST CATHOLIC PRIESTS AND NEEDS SOMETHING NEW TO JUSTIFY THEIR OWN "ME ME" LIFESTYLES.

Rebellion....ah, could you point that out to me in the Bible, please.....or is that just something you made up, or some church's doctrine......or some Sister Sal's list of 'do do this and don't do that' to be a Christian?

You don't understand rebellion? What was Satan's sin? What caused him to fall? What was Eve's sin? Eating an apple????? Surely you don't really intend to argue that you don't understand rebellion.

What does "Christianity" have to do with it?
To: kjam22
The church, I believe, has acted in its legal purview correctly. However, I see the church's role as something more than in a 'legal' sense.
Whatever do you mean that the pastor attempted to 'reconcile her'.
Actually, the young mother and her daughter are better off without this church and this school. I really have to laugh at people who say Jesus wouldn't go in a bar! Oh yeah....if that is true, then he isn't God/Jesus because God/Jesus is supposed to be everywhere. So, he is with the drunks and dredges of society, who really need him in their lives just as he is with real Christians who haven't set up all the man-made rules for being a Christian.
I can tell you that as a young mother, it was a pastor/church full of good intentions that destroyed my relationship with God for well over 30 years....and I guarantee you, there ain't no Christian or no Church that is going to interfere with that relationship again.....if God doesn't like what I'm doing, He will change me--or I will stand condemned--but it will be by Him and not some mere mortal who is bound and determined they know better than God what is required to be a Christian.

There is no difference between the sin biblical sin of Eve and the sin of this mother. They are in fact identical.

It's all philosophy according to Rowdee. And for Rowdee it is the law and the gospel. I understand that. But I believe the Bible is the Word of God. I'll lean on it for my philosophical instruction... thanks anyway:)

You're not saying that you are unaware of morality commands in the bible? You can play technicality lawyer all day and question the meaning of the word "is" all you want. Or you can read the bible for yourself and answer your own questions. This one isn't even difficult.

Philosophy? Rowdee? I know the Bible is the Word of God. I also know that God is the one who can change me....no pastor can do that! No church creed or doctrine can do that! When He accepted me, He knew all my warts and wrinkles....and He knew He could mold me how He needs me to be so He can use me as HE sees/knows I am to be used in His plan...no human is privy to God's plan for each of us.
We don't know how God planned to use this young woman--could be an example to other young women she worked with or the bosses or the clientele--or as something down the road for her young daughter--or even herself--or persons in the congregation, or the congregation or pastor, as a whole.
I do know that there will be people less versed in God's ways that will see this as a big Negative towards Christianity, or religion in general. Especially vunerable are teenagers....

"I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to tell her," she said.Hm. Let's help her out.
"Honey, Mommy's a cheap tramp who makes money by stirring up wild, intense desires in men that are wrong, and that she has no intention of fulfilling. Mommy has men look at her naked, like she tells you never to do. Mommy lied to the school, and is now acting shocked because they think she shouldn't have."
Would that work?

Those that see it as a negative will be those that think the church has an obligation to populate itself with all manner of unrepentant sinner. God loves us and died for our sins. Absolutely. And we are all sinners. Absolutely. But it doesn't say that we are to continue as if the sin has no meaning. It doesn't say that once we accept Christ that we can do anything we choose and that God will somehow work blessings through the those sins we choose to do.
It is a nice philosophy, but it isn't biblically grounded.

If it isn't difficult, then tell me the answer. I daresay you're content with someone in the Church's definition of 'morality'......
Wasn't it Bethsheba that King David danced naked in front of? Wasn't King David beloved of God?
Is it the 'naked' that bothers you? Or is it the 'dancing' that bothers you? Or perhaps 'naked dancing' that bothers you?
