The article gives no description of who the anti-Israel demonstrators were. This failure suggests to me that they were not white American radical leftists, as I think the article would make that clear. Rather, I suspect they were blacks and/or Muslims, as PC would then forbid their identification.

I disagree, leftists are a protected group too. But, if they were white, it would have been assumed they were right-wing. Most of the Jew-hating comes from the left.
