The "Bush Doctrine" Is Alive And Well
ToogoodReports ^ | May 14, 2002 | Debbie Daniel

"A wise man does not try to hurry history. Many wars have been avoided by patience and many have been precipitated by reckless haste." — Adlai Stevenson

For any of you who think for a minute that George Bush has abandoned his "doctrine" of going after terrorists … JUST HOLD YOUR HORSES!

I have listened to all the pundits chastise Mr. Bush for not standing by his own words, regarding the mideast crisis. Some of you are furious and can't imagine what he must be thinking. From talk-show hosts to outspoken congressmen, the word is, "the president has messed up big time."

Even the likes of Rush Limbaugh have sought their "own doctrines" of what they would do, and what is best for our country. Mr. Limbaugh touts his philosophy in an essay entitled "Unleash Israel & Win Peace." He likens this to our winning the war in 1945 over Japan … "that in all of human history, victory is the only thing that can bring peace."

Yes, it was a decided victory in World War II when we finally dropped the second atomic bomb over Nagasaki. But the first bomb was NOT dropped over Hiroshima until 4 YEARS AFTER the attack on Pearl Harbor. Some people believe we were attacked one day, and the next day we dropped a bomb.

"Timing is Everything," and I believe George Bush has a well-crafted, thought-out plan that has been on a timed countdown since 9/11. He has not wavered from that mind-set since the day he proclaimed, "Terrorism will be rooted out … we'll hunt them down … we'll smoke them out … either you're with us or you're against us."

This principle has NOT changed one iota. The president sees a much bigger picture, but some Americans want Israel to go in and extinguish Palestine NOW, and "victory will bring peace."

I believe the "PEACE" negotiations George W. Bush encouraged Ariel Sharon to establish with Arafat was only a "PLOY" to buy time. When he asked Sharon to pull out of the occupied territories, we all sat with our mouths gaped open. I have endless faith in George Bush, and I believe it is all about TIMING!

Think of what we've expected from our president? While in the midst of his plan to root out terrorism, the Arab nations have done everything possible to distract his determination. If they could divert Mr. Bush, then it also gave them more time to position themselves. They are salivating to draw us into this conflict.

We've screamed at our television sets, "Israel should be able to defend itself … just like we did." Yes, Israel could wipe out Palestine in one swoop, but this isn't just about Palestine.

Bush needed more time, and that's why he asked Mr. Sharon to hold off. It's not only about peace negotiations and you know it. But can our president tell that to the rest of the world?

C'mon everyone, let's get in step behind our president. You're falling prey to the enemy, and if we're not careful, they'll eat us alive. Get off your "soapboxes" and stop whining, "but" the President said, … "We're in a war" — think like a warrior!

George Bush is not an ignoramus. If you think for a moment that Israel should start bombing as we did in Afghanistan, you know it would be a mistake. That's exactly what the Arab countries want them to do — so they can pounce on Israel ostensibly to defend Palestine.

Don't you see why Saudi Arabia gave remunerations to the families of suicide bombers? They have taunted and teased, doing everything possible to rile Israel. And thus hoping to draw the United States in to help their Israeli ally … proving U.S. loyalty to the Jewish nation.

I believe with this latest bombing — outside of Jerusalem — George W. Bush knows all "time" has been spent. We will soon see what he had in mind all along. But it's not going to be pretty.

So tighten your seatbelts and get ready. Because — like it or not — we're going to war. And for all of you who wanted this to happen six months ago, just remember, "To know how to wait is the great secret of success," (De Maistre).

Bush has NOT abandoned his "doctrine" … he's just executing it differently than most ordinary people. And that's why he is the PRESIDENT … he's no ordinary man.

Stupid me, I meant this line:

Yes, it was a decided victory in World War II when we finally dropped the second atomic bomb over Nagasaki. But the first bomb was NOT dropped over Hiroshima until 4 YEARS AFTER the attack on Pearl Harbor. Some people believe we were attacked one day, and the next day we dropped a bomb.

"As far as I remember, after Pearl Harbor we declared war on Germany "

I think Germany declared war on us first after we declared war on Japan.

Gee, she sounds exactly like Rush did up 'til a couple of weeks ago. I especially liked the bit about "...and I believe George Bush has a well-crafted, thought-out plan that has been on a timed countdown since 9/11." Dream on, it's Ken Starr all over again!

All you "armchair generals" bashing GWB ought to stop looking at the snapshots and start watching the movie. In 8 short months we went on the other side of the Earth and destroyed the first bunch of terrorists and the government that supported them [ask Gorbi. and the RED ARMY how easy that was]. GWB got Muslim countries to grant us basing rights ,intelligience, and overflight rights. We and our allies [oh, don`t forget, GWB also formed a coalition that is fighting along side our troops]are helping form a new government, friendly to the West, and millions of Afgans are comming home. Next, SADDAAMMNN. Not to shabby.

In 8 short months we went on the other side of the Earth...

Actually, we did all that in about three short months... it's now five months after that....

She says this like its a good thing? sheesh...if we had had the bomb the day after Pearl Harbor, you better believe we would have used it!

Think how many lives could have been saved, not only US lives but Japanese lives and probably German lives, and British lives and Russians and Italians,,..etc.etc.etc. Who would want to fight anymore if the US had an unlimited supply of nukes?

Hers is perhaps the most idiotic statement I have read in along time.

I have endless faith in George Bush

By definition therefore it is impossible for him to do wrong, I guess.

Mr President: Take your time. Pick your shots. Knock 'em off one by one, and don't let the backseat drivers rush your game plan.

So while admittedly victory would bring peace, peace right now isn't convienient for George Bush. It might interupt his master plan.

Its too bad about the Isrealis and Palistinians who die between now and whenever George Bush decides to allow the Israelis to fight to win. I guess their lives don't count.

Before anyone reminds me, yes I know the Israelis don't appear to have the will to fight to win either, so even if GB told them to go for it, it's not for certain they would. GB certainly isn't helping matters though.

Huh? The Arab countries have tried "pouncing" on Israel repeatedly. It never works. They always get their butts kicked.

At any rate if they are going to do it, better for them to do it now, before they get nukes, than later after they get nukes. Nukes are the great equalizer, and unlike the US and Israel, Arab countries will use them.

Any delay works to the Arabs benefit not the Israels.

Au contraire, this is the best line of all. Loved it!

Hard to say? They had over 50,000 peace demonstrators in Jersulim last weekend, and have alot of conscientious objectors. Israel has more liberals per capita than the US does. They are like an anchor around Israel's neck.

Well... as you know, the media is not exactly "unbiased", shall we say?

The 50K demonstrators was closer to 30K. And you know that there are at LEAST 50K arabs living in Israel. Actually, 1.6 million is what comes to mind. To think that they could get only 30K people for such a demonstration is pitiful!

However, I agree with you... there are way too many liberals there. WAY TOO MANY!!! And they truly are an anchor, stone...

Yet, I believe that if Israel was not hamstrung by the USA, there is no doubt they would fight to win. They did it in 56, only to get pulled back. Again in 67, pulled back by the US... 73, pulled back by the US... and in 82, again pulled back by the US. I can't imagine Israel giving back the Sinai if not for the USA. You realize, that if Israel kept the Sinai, they would be self sufficient with petroleum.
