I know someone who knows someone who works at the Bremerton Shipyards in Puget Sound where the nuclear subs are kept.<<< The nuclear subs are "kept" in Hood Canal on the other side of the peninsula that Bremerton is on - about 40 miles away - at Bangor, WA. To my knowledge, no subs are kept in Bremerton - some may have been worked on there - but I believe most of the sub shipyard work on the West Coast goes on in San Diego.

At 7:30 that morning local police were notified that the BATF and FBI had tested the truck and found traces of explosives on the steering wheel and gear shift. I find this an amazing bit of info. Apparently all of this inter-departmental "playing nice" after Sept. 11th is not just all talk.
Good news, indeed.

Seattle, eh?
Nearby Seattle is Fort Lewis, which has a whole LOTTA Army types and some Army air helos.
Nearby Seattle is Bremerton (already mentioned above.) Lotsa Navy types there.
No place to pick a fight...
As to Hanford: I have been there. Dunno about flying an airplane into a reactor--they are pretty well built, but not like today's commercial ones. These are a little 'softer.' OTOH, only one of the Hanford's six reactors is operating--all the rest are dead.
Parenthetically, the operating reactor is scheduled to be shut down soon, leaving us one heckuva problem if we ever needed to build more nukes...

but not anywhere else? So the Israeli national handled the explosives,or maybe one of the ten previous renters, seems like testing his clothing would clarify the situation, which is pretty easy SINCE HE IS IN CUSTODY Jaso, the second paragraph of the article on the Fox news site says that explosives residue was found on one of the individuals.

We have military everywhere here. In fact last week my children were commenting on the high frequency of seeing them out on the highways.
That said, it's not easy to get onto the bases, so I put my money on a target like the Space Needle or something. If the explosives actually got up here.

Think we'll hang out at home for Memorial Day. I have a bad feeling about it...
The problem is they already dumped the stuff, with someone else. It has a good chance of being in our area.
What's planned for Memorial Day that's big in Seattle?

The photos included images of the Alaskan Way Viaduct, the Pike Place Market, the now-demolished Kingdome and a Boeing building, among several others.
Just went back to the article and read the rest of it. Patty Murray said there was no threat here and we should all just be happy.
Gee, I hope they didn't have their hearts set on the Kingdome.

The heck with the traces of TNT.
What I really want to know is, were these individuals ethnically profiled? Has anyone checked with the ACLU? Illegials here carrying TNT and plastic explosives have rights too!

I guess they were speeding to get away from the "dump" site! Interesting to see the backtrack and where truck was rented. Really scary.
To: Aria
maybe they were just innocent art students trying to sell their paintings to culturally deprived GI's
