For nearly a year, I have avoided BO due to his self-importance and self-aggrandizment. He makes me wanna barf when he talks about the "FOLKS" out there, while preening at the camera in his Brooks Brother's Suits!!!

He seems to think that by SAYING he cares about the FOLKS we're goinna BELIEVE he cares. HAH! Not me. I can smell insincerity, and ego-drive a thousand miles away, and his stench is particularly bad. Here's a guy who'd stop on a dime to look at his mug on a mirror, causing a major traffic accident, and be unaware of anything but himself. YUKKKK!

BTW: I like Matt Drudge, although he can be a bit self-absorbed as well.

"O'Reilly's tragic flaw" is his own overly large, whining mouth, coupled with his superiority complex, multiplied by his egotisim....IMHO

OK good I thought I was the only one getting annoyed by B.O. I like the stories and reports he does but, that sh*t eatin Kool-Aid grin gets on my nerves. The "I's" and "me's" make his show really hard to watch. Pretty soon I think he is going to say he invented the wheel or something.

Its clear that O'Reilly perceived Rush to be wounded when he announced his hearing problems last summer. O'Reilly figured Rush was on the way out. But a funny thing happened on the way to the studio - the cochclear implant worked. Regardless, O'Reilly will find out that he is going to stretch himself too thin and will last about a year and two at the most with both a radio and television show.

Also, I think that Drudge should have been offended that O'Reilly came on his show and lied to him and his audience. The news that the execs are paying for this show to be a success and that many local talents are being fired or bumped will create animosity towards O'Reilly as well.

If he chooses, Rush Limbaugh will become the Paul Harvey of our generation, pontificating to my grandkids.

That was a cheap shot at PH. The man puts out more 'interesting' news in a 15-minute broadcast than RL puts out in 15-hour week.

I agree with you on BO. Can't watch him.

He had an opportunity to demonstrate class, calm under pressure and style

O'Reilly, the sage of Levittown, never had any of these qualities.

O'Reily (one "l," or two?) is OK but really isn't very good at what he does. He runs a terrible interview, is rude, and is so offensive to his guests that it is a wonder that anyone who isn't just trying to deliver a message and, thus, is willing to be abused, ever comes back.

Proof? Next time you watch an interview, whether with friend or foe, keep score with a pen and a piece of paper. Every time BOR asks a question, draw a circle (be quick) and, if he interrupts BEFORE the guest can finish his answer, draw a line (backslash) through the same circle. By "interrupt," I mean, "abruptly speak over," in such a fashion that, if your teenage kid did that to you, you'd smack him. At the end of the interview, you will find very few clean circles.

BOR can be entertaining and I have no real problem with his ego. It is just that he is not very good.

O'Reilly earned his success on Fox News. However, that success is not necessarily immediately transferable to other media. Rush didn't do well on TV. Dr. Laura bombed on TV.

But not always. Sean Hannity has done well in both media. O'Reilly will do OK, but his big mistake is going head to head with Rush. No way are Rush's listeners going to switch to Bill.

BTW I think you're off base with the criticism. So he's got a big ego and wears nice suits and talks about the ordinary folks. So does Rush. So what? He does a great job at what he does. Just because he's successful now does not mean he can't relate to the "ordinary folks".

Finally as far as his remarks on Imus, I haven't heard the cut but it sounds to me like he trying to make light of it. And I doubt anyone who doesn't read Drudge report ever heard of it.

O'reilly has gone after Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Janet Reno, Jesse Jackson (in a big way) to name a just a few.

he is conservative far more often than liberal, and his show reaches lots of people. Lots of people who could be wooed to our point of view with a little exposure to it.

O'reilly is certainly not perfect, but he is still a big asset to conservatism.

FYI, FWIW, little reported factoid last week...the program director or WOR radio resigned last week, to "pursue other interests"..less than one year into a multi year contract..This is curious, and important, because it happened shortly after the "payola" story broke....and WOR was very important to O'Reilly's program getting started, because since WABC in NY carries RUSH and Sean Hannity, he wasn't getting on the air their, and there is really no other "big signal" talk station in NYC...also, the WOR program director ( I can't recall his name), used to work at the NY Post..which is owned by Murdoch, who also own Fox, so it's not hard to surmise that O'Reilly and the former program director knew each other....and connecting the dots gets very interesting..

The "No-Spin" part is when Bill says "I'll give you the last word" ten seconds before the end of the segment.

Some of BOR's direct, no nonsense work is good.

The majority of his work is based on his assertion being the best and only correct one. Boring self righteous liberal nonsense.

He lost me permanently when he came out for reparations.

The man is an egotistical loon. He will not last 6 months on radio. He does not have the talent that lies in RL's cigar ashes. He is not as good as Sean Hannity.

Thin skinned and boring, what a compelling combination.

There's a little of the pot calling the kettle black. While I am unaware of Rush paying to be played, I do know that initially to clearance in NYC, the deal was talent in exchange for air time. A little different than pay to play, but still very similar.

Also very early on, there were many small stations that considered dumping Rush before he hit his stride. He worked the phones to keep them on. In some cases virtually begging and pleading not to have the show yanked. Any loss would have hurt terribly. Some of these smaller stations were terribly miffed when Rush's popularity began to zoom and he dumped them for larger signals.

I know, marketplace dynamics, but there is something also to be said about loyality, especially when some of those smaller stations by hanging in there with hime like was the differnece between Rush being where he is today or just another footnote like Cuomo in talk radio. Those 30 or so small stations could have sank his boat if they had given up and pulled the plug early on.
