BRUNSSUM, Netherlands May 11 An explosion ripped apart a car parked in front of the house of a local politician in the southern Netherlands on Saturday, five days after the leader of a national political movement was shot to death.
No one was injured in the blast, which severely damaged a car belonging to the wife of a another politician, a city alderman in Brunssum, near the German border and about 12 miles from the Dutch city of Maastricht.
Police said the explosive may have been a grenade.
The politician was identified as J. Steiner of the local Christian Democratic party. Steiner told police he feared the motive was political and requested police security, the national broadcasting company NOS reported.
Last summer, the car of Brunssum's mayor was set on fire. A suspect was never found, and police were investigating whether the two attacks could be linked.
The attack came five days after Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn was assassinated in a parking lot after finishing a radio interview. Police have charged a 32-year-old Dutchman with the killing but have not found a motive. The attack in Brunssum seemed to be unrelated.

The attack came five days after Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn was assassinated in a parking lot after finishing a radio interview. Police have charged a 32-year-old Dutchman with the killing but have not found a motive. The motive was perfectly clear: The killer was a left-wing animal rights whacko upset at Fortuyn for his stance in favor of fur farming. Give me a break.

No motive? Good grief. When a liberal politician gets killed they don't even wait to catch someone before announcing the motive.

It happened in the same province (Limburg) as I live in. This used to be a quiet area, but lately a lot of stuff happened here.

Pim Fortuyn won the local elections in Rotterdam mainly because of his stand on safety. He said he wanted to make the streets safe again. In Rotterdam 42% of the people felt unsafe.
As you can see, the Netherlands are not the safe utopia many people were led to believe.

Somehow, they will manage to blame America.Or Israel.

"Not an excuse, but an explanation of the series of events."
Since the vast majority of drinkers commit no cimes at all , let alone pedophilia, I rule that out as being any kind of a co-founding factor. It is no more illuminating than if they drove Fords or Cheveys. I think it is just more of the sloppy mysticism of modern so-called therapy.
