I guess you haven't heard about the Bush administration's withdrawal from the ICC, I take it?

No doubt, that is a positive developement, but I also know that the current administration made good on our dues to the UN, and that is a bad thing.

Join the 17,532 people who have supported this petition already by signing below. Help Stop Publication Of Pro-Pedophile Book In Minnesota!

Dear Concerned Parents,Grandparents, and those who care!:

As the Executive Director of Survivors And Victims Empowered, and Managing Editor of Treating Abuse Today, I am outraged that the University of Minnesota is going to publish Judith Levine's book, Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex.

Levine's book is a manifesto for child molesters--and will create an even greater epidemic of child molestation in this country than already exists. Every day I see the results of the devastating consequences of child molestation on children and on adult victims of child abuse.

Levine's book will be used by homosexual and heterosexual child molesters, as well as pedophiles to legitimize the sexual abuse of children.

Levine's previous work provides us a clue to her pro-pedophile thinking. In an article published on the pornographic Nerve.com web site, Levine says this: "Yes, humans have bodies, which from birth appear to seek pleasurable touch as surely as slugs seek moisture." In another comment on Nerve.com, she describes a Sally Mann photo, "The Alligator's Approach," which shows a naked three-year-old as "sexy."

She describes men this way: "Men's sexuality is mean and violent, and men so powerful that they can 'reach WITHIN women to ....construct us from the inside out.' Satan-like, men possess women, making their wicked fantasies and desires women's own. A woman who has sex with a man, therefore, does so against her will, 'even if she does not feel forced."

Here are some of Levine's views on adult/child sex published on the University of Minnesota web site: "My book says that sexuality is a fact of life, and a potentially wonderful part of growing up for children at all stages of their lives. It's not sex itself that is harmful to children, but the conditions under which they might express themselves sexually...."

Levine says the greatest danger to children is the "...conservative religious agenda that would deny minors all sexual information and sexual expression." Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura Must Stop Publication Of A Book Promoting The Sexual Molestation Of Children! I am urging you -- as a concerned parent -- to call upon Governor Jesse Ventura to use his authority as the leader of Minnesota to stop publication of Judith Levine's pro-pedophile/child molestation book! This is an outrage--and must be stopped!

State Representative Tim Pawlenty, majority leader in the Minnesota House of Representatives has shown courage in asking the University to stop release of Levine's book. Let us hope that Governor Ventura follows his lead.

Judith Levine is recommending that adults engage in criminal behavior with children! All states have statutory rape laws on the books. She apparently wants adults and children to break these laws so they can pursue "pleasurable touch."

The University of Minnesota is a tax-funded institution. It should not be funding a book that urges citizens to violate the laws of the state by sexually abusing children!

Please sign the petition below to Governor Ventura. If Judith Levine wants to promote pedophilia and sexual abuse, let her join the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) and post her views on this group's web site. She does not deserve to have her views promoted by the taxpayers of Minnesota!

Sincerely, Jim Hughes Executive Director Survivors And Victims Empowered Publisher: Treating Abuse Today

Dear Governor Ventura: As a concerned citizen, I am calling upon you to use your authority as Governor of Minnesota to stop publication of Judith Levine's pro-pedophile book, Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex to be published by the University of Minnesota Press.

Levine's book is a call for the normalization of adult/child sex and will contribute to an increase in child abuse throughout Minnesota and the rest of our nation. Child molesters do not need more encouragement to sexually abuse children. The recent scandal of child abuse within the Catholic Church should serve as a warning children need to be protected in our culture from sexual predators. The University of Minnesota is giving aid and comfort to pedophiles by publishing Levine's book.

The taxpayers of Minnesota fund your university and should not have to support the publication of a book that advocates the violation of state laws against adult/child sex and child abuse. Levine's book is a call for criminal action on the part of adults to sexually abuse children. This must be stopped!

I am urging you to cancel publication of this book immediately! Your state must not be involved in an effort to promote the molestation of children or the breaking of state and federal laws against sexual abuse!

I agree with the views recently expressed by Jim Hughes, Executive Director of Survivors And Victims Empowered (SAVE), a child abuse recovery group, that if Judith Levine wants to promote pedophilia, let her join the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) so she can publisher her views on their web site. The taxpayers of Minnesota and your state should not provide her credibility and a forum for her pro-child molestation views!

Please take a stand against this woman's efforts to normalize adult/child sex! Cancel publication of her book immediately!

got to www.millionsofamericans.com you can sign the petition.

The L.A. Times has a good article on the Conference on Page 2 of today's edition. It resolves some questions to my satisfaction. I'll post it a little later.

I'm waiting for responses to my e-mails. So far - nothing. So you're right about that.

My feeling about the booklet is this; The U.N. and the Mexican government paid for something they didn't get. How they got what they actually got is a hell of an interesting story. Maybe the Mexican papers are onto it.

I was a delegate to the International Year of the Child, back in Jimmy Carter's era and I can tell you - first hand - that some of those workshops were disgusting, even then.

In fact, I'd semi-retired from conservative activism and that experience renewed my sense of urgency to continue. Unless we make ourselves aware of the danger coming from the socialists and Marxists, we will most certainly be lost. The EU is already gone and we're trailing a close second.

The increase in vile behavior in the civilized world is statistically irrefutable.

True, and we now hear all about it.

History leaves out so much that we take for granted when we actually experience an event.

The children growing up now aren't even being taught History! Yes it must have been hard for the Europeans between wars. We have always felt so secure with oceans on each side, but the times are changing!

How about a more detailed description? By coincidence, I just finished talking to someone whose kids were school age between 10 and 15 years ago. She remembers sex education as being pretty rudimentary and uncontroversial. So whatever's happening that's getting people so angry is very recent.

Maybe I am going to be shocked.

It's late tonight. We just returned from an evening out so I'm getting ready for bed, but I wanted to let you know I'm planning to answer you tomorrow.

Honestly, I will have to recall much of it from memory but I'll do my best to give you a flavor of what I saw. Here's a teaser: My workshop was entitled, "How to Achieve Nuclear Disarmament and Re-Direct Those Funds to Children's Needs." Needless to say, it was a laugh riot. NOT.

In the meantime, please review all the links on this thread and digest some of the doublespeak they used. Just remember, when they talk about nations helping underdeveloped nations, they're focusing on US being the golden goose.

About 10 years ago I was a member of ZPG - Zero Population Growth. I went to a Counties-wide meeting to discuss regional planning - and had exactly the same sort of experience you have so far described; incompetence and pontificating on a truly monumental scale.

Since that was hardly the only place I saw such behavior I concluded that was how democracy worked.

I’m sorry I didn’t get back sooner, but the Mother’s Day weekend really set me back.

Let me begin by describing the venue:
This was a convention setting. The outer areas were lined with booths and tables with various groups selling their wares. Among those present, were the usual suspects… Planned Parenthood, NOW, Gay and Lesbian groups, etc. (Of course there were also innocuous groups with which I had no problem and won’t mention due to space limits.)

My workshop consisted of a group that advocated massive and complete disarmament of the United States in order to fund children’s needs around the world. The make-up of the workshop was diverse – many teachers, an engineer, and two doctors, one of which was head of a city health department.

My experience was one of shock and dismay and the real “kicker” was at the end of the conference when mission statements were presented to the entire conference. These mission statements reflected a massive Utopian theme. But to my surprise, a backlash had developed as the UN statements were being delivered. About fifty people who held family values sacred had also written minority reports and asked to be allowed to deliver those as well – as a counter to the socialistic papers. There was an eruption of confusion as the UN representatives tried to argue all of us down. When we attempted to be heard at the microphone, a Carter representative stomped out of sight, pulled the plugs on all the electrical equipment, and yelled that the conference was over, leaving us without a platform to dissent.

The press moved in and asked questions of all those of us who were angry, but the papers only reported that some “dissenters tried to disrupt the conference and were asked to leave." The minority reports were never read, never reported on. This conference was held at the Astrodome in Houston and headed by members of the Carter Cabinet and UN representatives. It was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had.

That experience taught me two things: 1) There are people in our government who are either greedy for power or terribly ignorant of human nature and, 2) The UN is nothing but a tool for world domination. (Of course in order to dominate the world, they must first tear down America by forcing us to pay for all their Utopian theories!)

I wish I’d saved my notes so I could be more specific, but I’m sorry to say they are long gone. Hope this helps. And if you have any questions, please just let me know….

I thank you for your reply. It all sounds terribly familiar...unfortunately. I hope you're right in believing that conservatives are better behaved and more realistic. I'm more cynical. I stand with Lord Acton and those who would find that your descriptions apply to all of humanity.

What the UN is trying to pull is letting the masses have any kind of sexual pleasure they want thus making them more than happy to give up the rest of their freedoms.Kind of like Brave New World where Big Brother cloned the children and allowed people to have all the promiscuis sex they want but outlawed natural childbirth .That way, they wouldn't worry about real freedom because sex was always on their mind.

1. Masturbation. 2. Sexual relations with a partner — whether heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. 3. A sexual response that is directed toward inanimate objects, animals, minors, non-consenting persons."

Gee. Sounds like the American Teachers' Association. Don't they want to create a transvestive bathroom in every school?
