This report reminds me of one on the TV when kids were setting these off where I live. The reported showed the materials used to make it, and said very seriously that "if your child is buying this, he may be building these bombs." Every kid whatching the report thus knew exactly which chemical to buy at the supermarket to make a bomb.

Hope you spent some time STUDYING while at college! HehHeh.
Brings back memories, though...

What happen to the old days when kids use baseball bats to destroy a malibox???Maybe the kids wielding the bats are afraid to run into a mailbox that has already been visited by the nuts planting the pipe bombs?

I sense a great entrepreneur market in remote mailbox openers.

It happened before the latest rounds of mailbox terrorism, so it wasn't that big of a deal to me. Just a few bucks.
But now I have a new rule. Nobody touches that mailbox except me and the mailman. Anyone else is a terrorist of some magnitude, and the law of self defense in Texas very much favors the landowner.

They still do. It happened to me about three weeks ago.
Just think, they may have saved you from the mailbox bomber. Probably not their plan.

A Caustic is a strong chemical base. Gives new meaning to "All your base are belong to us." Someone did indeed set them up the bomb!

Out of the loop for awhile here...I know somebody explained it before, but what's the deal with all the shower stuff? (Or at least point me to where I can find out) Thanks.

Wait... this makes sense. The current arrested mail box bomber was a grunge musician. He had a Curt Cobain T shirt on when arrested. Seattle is the center of grunge music. So it may be a copycat. But grunge folks are obviously mad about something. Maybe we should all just get along? BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
To: MeeknMing
Hey, we better license and register mailbox users. It's for our own protection.

Thanks a lot-- I just ate lunch.
