We did, and to be perfectly honest, we have no regrets.

preventing Mexico from taking a more powerful role in crises

What other country has it's leader taking the position that his citizens must leave and be taken in by another country? Fox is making Mexico look like a joke. He lacks real solutions, making your people leave isn't much of one.

When 245 was passed by Clinton administration why were people not upset? The 245(i) is an extension of the 245 that has already been passed. It changed nothing, merely extends. May I suggest that you read the Legal Immigration and Family Equity Act (Life Act) to better understand the 245(i).

Fox has done a lot more than other Mexican presidents such as stricter drug controls at the border. He in turn would like to be sure that there is a worker program so that the economy of Mexico can improve. If Mexican economy improves then Mexico will prosper and the USA in turn would also prosper when its neighbor is doing well. Plus, Mexico supplies some of the oil to USA.

From FairUS today, 14 May 2002: THAT'S IN 2 HOURS!

If Bush sneaks this through, he's through; recent polls be damned.

"[Proposition]187 is the last gasp of white America in California. And people say to me on the Senate floor when I was in the Senate, why do you fight so hard for affirmative action programs? And I tell my white colleagues, you're going to need them." -- Art Torres, Chair, California Democratic Party

This may be Bush's last gasp, too.

That's good news. Thanks to everyone who called, wrote and faxed on this issue. My own congressman (Taylor-NC) was against this all the way, but I'll bet the outcome would have been different if people hadn't objected.
