As President Bush and Israel's prime minister, Ariel Sharon, met in Washington yesterday, the latest mass murder rocked Tel Aviv. A blast in a pool hall killed at least 16 people and wounded at least 57 others. So, will the Palestinian who here turned himself into a walking agent of destruction be regarded by his people as a "suicide bomber," a "terrorist" or a "martyr"?

Exceellent article. When they say things like 'innocents' and 'unjustified violence" they have a different context. To the uninitiated ear, it may sound like a condemnation, yet it isn't due to their interpretation of their islamic laws and religious edicts.

So these people are doubly cursed. They not only commit suicide but murder as well. These people have allowed their souls to be destroyed in order to advance the power of some very unscrupulous men. It is obvious from the Moslem theology that suicide is against Islam. If the clerics and the Islamic media would demonize such behaviors, there will be immediate cessation of this stupid conduct! However, this practice appears to be the only weapon left for the Moslem Palestinians to get the world attention.

As a starter, the president MUST dictate to the Arab leaders to impose on all clerics a moratorium on preaching hate of the Christians and Jews! The president MUST also ask the Israelis to UNILATERALLY start to dismantle the Jewish settlements; that would be a good start for rapprochement!

The Palestinians cause was never an Islamic cause. It is a liberation / self determination cause that was hijacked by the Islamic movement subsidized by Iran and Saudi Arabia. A different Palestinian leader MUST take over from Arafat. The president and the Arab leaders must impose a leadership on this crazy bunch, with the promise for economic boom if they take on a pro-western leader. I recommend James Zoghby, the American born commentator. Arab States MUST absorb some of the refugees to alleviate the crowded life in the camps, and help the economic development of this desperate people.

These are some ideas to get some confidence building measures between the hostile parties.

I picked that up immediately after 9-11. What you heard from the Islamic community wasn't a condemnation of the specific attacks. What you heard was "We oppose the killing of innocent civilians."

Using the Islamic/Arab/Clinton method of deconstructing language, the above view means nothing. No American is innocent, because they pay taxes to a government, that they themselves chose, which in turn are used to purchase tanks, planes and bullets which are sent to Isreal. Israelis aren't civilians because they belong to the reserve Army forces. Israelis certainly are not innocent, they are Occupiers.

Which most of the media people have a hard time comprehending; it can satisfy many who are eager to hear 'soothing' words of 'condemnation'. Take it out of their context and it sounds fine. Took me all day to remember but i finally did. Immediately after 9/11 there was a service in the National Cathedral where the imam from CAIR spoke. Iwanted to throw my beer at the TV. He mentioned (which i still remember) the "unjustified killing of innocents" -- a statement with so many holes it could be swiss cheese. Seemed such a wishy washy statement at an occasion that demanded much stronger and unambiguos language. I really thought that fool would say something stronger.

Iran's former president, Hashemi Rafsanjani, says he would accept the suicide of even 10% of Muslims in a nuclear war to wipe Israel off the map.

At least we have some numbers to work with now. They need 10% of their population destroyed before it catches their attention. We should target our nukes accordingly.
