Beware the hate-mongers behind Ten Commandments movement (GAG)
The Tennessean ^ | May 5, 2002 | JAMES H. WILLIAMS

When members of the Metro Council express the necessity of ''putting God back into this country'' as a justification to post the Ten Commandments in government buildings, they are using code words of the Christian right. They send chills up my spine because what they really mean is: Let's return America to the days of illegal abortions, forced prayer in public schools, second-class citizenship for non-Christians, and gays and lesbians in the closet.

Seems to me the hate monger is the author of this piece. Appears to hate the 10 commandments, although I can't see how anyone could object to them. They are just decent values and common sense. Also hates Christians. Hmmm, this sounds like hate speech to me.

I can't see how anyone could object to them.

Would you see how someone could object to the publication of Islamic commandments by the US government wherein they called for the destruction of the Christian and the Jew? That's rather an odd thing to want the government endorsing, I would think.

Yet in the very first commandment, if you are forbidden to worship any other God -- i.e. no other religion need apply.

And in the 2nd he tells of what he'll do to those who worship the wrong god -- "for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me"

So if you great-grandparent, or even your great-great-grandparent worshipped the wrong god, he will visit his "iniquity" upon you.

You can't imagine how any rational person might object to that sentiment, especially if they weren't of your religion?????

Come on, really?

,,, in saying a lot of things, the Bible has presented a marvellous invitation for many to interpret it in different ways, even rewriting it when it's teachings don't suit. The benefit of the Ten Commandments for me is that they're really a two minute manager for a better life. I've always regarded a number of the Ten Commandments as pertaining more to common sense rather than religion and, at the end of the day - they're concise, plain and non-arbitrary. No confusion. Good enough to carve in stone.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day ... however, the 10 Commandments FORBID any other religion -- which is a TERRIBLE thing for a GOVERNMENT to endorse.

You seem to have a serious problem with anger seeing as how you feel the need to attack Christians all the time.

,,, he can't make a valid attack without ammo. No Commandment franchises a particular "religion". "Thou shalt not place false gods before Me" ensures Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit are placed supremely. Plenty of religions agree with that - there's one that doesn't but I hear things are a little tough for them on the Pakistan border right now.

"Hate-mongers", huh. Are you actually too dumb to realise that's exactly what you are? How come it's wrong for Christians to be "hate-mongers" but it's okay for you to be one? You are as bad as the worst judgmental Christian I've ever seen! Congratulations, jlogajan, you have become your own enemy.

That's really up to them to answer.

I'll have no problem with these cocksuckers teaching people these lifestyle alternatives when they perfect the perpetual flame retardant suit for the soul.

However, since I am a real atheist and not merely pretending to be one, I can point to ALL religions and point out their silly bits.

Does that mean you're an orthodox atheist? And must you bash other's belief systems to be one?

I still say the same thing, but then of course, according to your reasoning, I am not a rational person. What I meant of course is that the 10 commandments are basically a love thy neighbor as thyself set of values, but gee, who wants to do that right?
And according to the Muslims, they DO have the same GOD, so what is the problem? ( I don't agree with that, but they say they do!)
So glad to have given you an opportunity to express your Christian bashing by carrying a casual comment about decent human values to the extreme!

Did you miss the rest of that question? Let's try again. Do you-- not anyone else--you, feel that Christians being "hate-mongers" is wrong? If you do, then why are you one, too????? Now try to ignore that.

5 Jehovah's Witnesses

I'll take #5 silly bits for $100 Alex.

The Jehovah's Witnessess religion predicted the end of the world in 1925. heh heh Talk about a massive re-write required of that doctrine.

Let's see -- pretty much the whole history of the Mormon "revelations" is thought to be fraudulent.

,,, #6 - we'll call in a Mormon to talk with you on that. I ain't one, so I'd be turning up to a gun fight with a knife, if you know what I mean. How about the rest of the religions I've selected? - all of which wouldn't really pick holes in you for the path you follow.
