WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and top members of his administration mingled and shared laughs Saturday with Washington reporters, insiders and some outsiders -- including famed British rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- at this year's White House Correspondents dinner.

Comedian Drew Carey was on hand to provide the entertainment during the more than three-hour event, doing stand-up comedy for the president and more than 1,800 guests, from top White House adviser Karl Rove to hard rocker turned reality show star Ozzy Osbourne.

Is that Joe Scarbourgh to the right?

He's with Cox Newspapers, formerly of the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the incoming president of the organization that hosts this event. I've forgotten his name.

No, I am not a demorat. I am a Patriot and have been a Freeper for a long time. I even think that classic Rock & Roll is great, but in my opinion, I don't think that it is right of President Bush to give notice to a so called entertainer. That goes for any entertainer but especially Ozzy.

Give it a rest. A LOT of young people who like Ozzy will vote for Bush. We have two of them right here in our home. We watch The Osbournes every week. Mom, dad, two teenagers. It's a great show.

I'm sure you haven't seen it since it's been on TV post 9/11 and you seem to have stopped living since then.

No, I am not a demorat.

Why do you call George Bush a demeaning name like "SHRUB"??? That is an insult!

Did you ever hear the words, "Speak softly but carry a big stick"?

That is the right personna to have especially when you are President.

Like the words the greatest President in our history, Ronald Reagan, used to live by, "Strength through Superior Fire power" Reagan got our hostages out of Iran because he rattled our enemy. Reagan beat down the Soviet Union through rattling them, not by laughing and partying it up with a bunch mentally deficient individuals, no, Reagan destroyed the Soviet Union through incrementally building our offfenses and defenses up, which that idiot, Jimmy Carter was resoponsible for tearing down.

Let's do the math. It's an annual event. No president has missed it since Coolidge. The Iran hostage crisis was 444 days. That would mean that Carter broke his self-imposed isolation to attend this function.

Rambo, this is one of those necessary evils for a president. When he saw serpent-head sitting in the audience, the President had to know he was not among friends. Failing to attend would piss off people who already don't like him. That would become more of a story than any battle in Aftrashistan. He handled them well and refocused the audience on what is happening right at the end of his talk. The tribute paid to the fighting folks by Drew Carey was a nice way to finish the evening. It also helped refocus the audience to the story that is really news--as opposed to the coverage this dinner will no doubt get.

No, and do you know what? I should not have used that term, "shrub" to describe Bush. Please accept my apology. It will not happen again.

Nough' Said. But I still think that Bush sholdn't have given a notice to Ozzy Osborne. And again, I never once said that he should not go to the dinner. Never.

Reagan went to this SAME Whitehouse coorespondents dinner while he was in the Whitehouse. You're making a mountain out of a molehill and making yourself look silly.

In Vietnam, also during a "war", there were rock concerts, beer drinking and they also smoked some marijuana..... Gasp!!!!! America is still intact.

Obviously, it's Ozzy Osbourne that's the real problem with you..... Lighten' up! It was only one night of fun- Greta invited Ozzy- who cares? I seriously doubt that President Bush and Ozzy Osbourne will form a permanent bond and become best buds.

Look, I've used the term "Shrub" before. Molly Ivins actually ripped the term off of Ann Richards. It was turned into a term of endearment by some Republicans who understand the irony of a person, derided by Democrats, becoming President of the United States.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Actually Ozzy is a Tory and detests anti-war liberals and likes firearms as much as Charlton Heston.

I have to go to now, God Bless all of you, Freepers. Thank you for the interesting Sunday morning. Didn't mean to make a mountain out of a mole hill. God Bless.

You just dig yourself deeper and deeper...

There have been how many wars since 1914? Like World War I, World War II, etc… And how many Presidents didn't go during those wars?

But somehow this is different because the "Shrub" is in office… Anything to criticize and belittle Bush eh? Your true colors are showing.

As far as Ozzy goes, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Big surprise there considering your lead in…

Molly Ivins and Ann Richards are both disgusting people. I have yet to hear ANY Republican use the term in an endearing fashion ... but feel free to post some examples. And there are lots of people on FR who don't like Bush. Do you?

Ozzy Osbourne sure beats the heck out of dimwit, washed up, obnoxious Clinton shills (and Monica Lewinsky wanna-be's) like Barbara Streisand and Sheryl Crow.
