GOP leader: Palestinians should move to unsettled Arab lands
Jerusalem Post ^ | May 2, 2002 | The Jerusalem Post Internet Staff

The US Congress will vote today on a proposal to recognize the West Bank as sovereign territory belonging to the State of Israel.

Rep. Richard Armey, the Republican Congressional leader, said the Palestinians should build their national home within a neighboring Arab country.

Armey noted Arab nations have large tracts of unsettled territory where the Palestinians could build a nation.

In Armey's opinion, there is no reason for Israel to hand territory over to the Palestinians in exchange for peace.

The White House is urging Congress at this time to dramatically tone down the proposal's language, Israel Radio reported.

How about the Israelis move back to Brooklyn, San Franciso, Frankfurt or London where they lived before they came and stole Palestinian land??

>>>Most of the Jews came to Israel from Europe... and we all know the Europeans history with Jews.<<<

Yeah....and most of Americans descended from Europeans........so what.

If you want to go back 3000 years......well......that's another whole new ballgame........

How about all the Arab Muslims in America go back to the Hejaz? The jihadists operate by the credo; "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine." Dick Armey must be commended for having the intestinal fortitude to take on the impotentates, and when necessary, offend the effendis. Bi la kaifa('nuff said)!

I was only going back to the 1940's. I figured that what I was referring to was self-evident.

I'll second that motion.

"With the caveat that much of that land strongly resembles Death Valley."

So did Israel, before the Jews turned it into a nation.

Didn't Jordon and Lebanon already kick them out? They are squaters and other countries kick them out and Israel is being forced to take them.

650,000 Jews were expelled from Arab countries in the late 1940's. They were expelled and most of their possessions were taken by the governments of Jordan, Iran, Iraq Lebanon, Egypt, etc. Maybe they will let the Jews back, return their citizenship and return their homes. Then their are the European Jews 6 million of whom were murdered and their valuables taken. I'm sure that Germany, France, Poland etal will give back the homes and valuable to their decendents, too.

Israel took the land from the Palestinians that took it in the first place.

You are correct. Israel has treated the Palestinians much better than any arab neighboring country.

Armey is wrong on this, and not just because of the substance of it. He's wrong because foreign policy initiatives should come out of the Adminsitration. We don't need 535 Secretary of State wannabes on Capitol Hill.

I agree in principle, but also find the White House's juxtaposition interesting. Sounds a little bit like "Oh, pulleeeze don't throw me in the briar patch...". Well, I hope that's what is going on, anyway.

Go Armey!!!!! Bush is really starting to disappoint me on this issue. Yes, we need Arab oil, but the Arabs need our petrodollars more.

How about the Israelis move back to Brooklyn, San Franciso, Frankfurt or London where they lived before they came and stole Palestinian land?? How would you feel if someone kicked you out of your home and stole all of your resources? "Conservatives" amuse me; they don't like when immigrants take over their space, but don't seem to mind if they take over someone else's.

First of all, how do you figure they stole the land? It was either 1) given to Israel as part of the British mandate and subsequent UN resolution, 2) legitimately sold to Jews by local Arabs in the first part of the century, or 3) gained as a result of defense following attacks by neighboring countries.

With regard to the accusation of theft of "resources," what resources would they be exactly?

From a previously posted article:

"TWENTY SUPPRESSED FACTS ABOUT THE MIDDLE EAST

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem. Israel became a nation in 1312 B.C, two thousand years before the rise of Islam.

2. Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 B.C. the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 A.D. lasted no more than 22 years.

5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders did not come to visit.

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Qur'an.

7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.

9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: In 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left without ever seeing an Israeli soldier.

10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same.

12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own peoples' lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.

13. The Arab - Israeli Conflict: The Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.

14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them with weapons. [See Fatah Charter/Constitution]

15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.

16. The UN Record on Israel and the Arabs: Of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990; there were 97 directed against Israel.

17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.

18. The UN was silent while 58 Jerusalem Synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.

19. The UN was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.

20. The UN was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall."
