Absoutely sickening, but what else is new from Nightline. Part One had Koppel and his amazing helmet hair interviewing Arafat. Sick sick sick. Arafat is sputtering and seems to have some kind of serious mental problem. Maybe its becaue hes been hold up, maybe hes in early stages of Demensia or something. Blaming the Jews and Koppel just sits back and lets this sick animal get away with anything ala Larry King. Then, at the end Arafat pulls some kid onto his lap and kisses her on the cheek. Koppel seems a bit weirded out. Maybe hes getting the vision of Saddam Hussein before the gulf war when he had the small westerner kids on his lap and how that reporter got railed for that love fest interview. Koppel ends it and will talk to Sharon next.
I would have added some serious excerpts from the interviwe but there wasnt any, just Arafat looking really scary.
Doubt it, Koppel was probably just itching to give Arafag a kiss and encourage him to move to the US and run for the Democratic ticket in '04
Whatever the case, Arafat isn't playing with a full deck. If he is a reflection of the Pallies, things are going to be grim for a long time.
Many different things have taken place during the last 35 years in the ME and many different people have been elected to lead the US and Israel, in that time period. But one thing has remained the same, Yasser Arafat still leads the Palastinian Authority. Arafat has always been a terrorist. Let's see how long, it will take, for him and his henchmen, to destroy this latest effort by the newest American President, to bring peace to the ME. May be Arafat will surprise the world. But I wouldn't bet on it.
Ted did ask who the little girl was. It sounded like she was the daughter of one of the guards.
As I recall, those are the words he used with Amanpour when he hung up on her. He had to make sure she knew he was a general.
What can we do with a drunken sailor,
What should we do with a drunken sailor,
What can we do with a drunken sailor,
Ear'lye in the morning....
(Loosely, an old Irish tune, with all apologies to Navy vets out there)
This guy is borderline incoherent. You'd think he'd have learned English a little better than he has, considering how much he relies on the West to spew his lies. He shouldn't show up for press conferences half-drunk or -stoned either..his eyes look like two hot coals.
Wouldnt be so sure. Prior to the Intifada, the Church of the Nativity and a few other Christian religious sites located in the West Bank were excellent sources of revenue for Arafat. The Palestinian Authority doesnt have any industry, so tourism is important to Arafat. That is why he was upset last Christmas that he couldnt travel to Bethleham to attend Christmas eve services, and why he has make it relatively safe for Christians journeying to the religious sites.
