The Bush administration is moving to block a bill that recommends sanctioning Syria for its continued support of terrorism and other bad behavior. It is the administration’s latest attempt in a series of efforts to block legislation being pushed by pro-Israel lobbyists.

The Bush administration is going on the record in favor of terrorists. Think of that whenever you see the WTC pictures.

The administration is playing a life and death game of chess with the entire Middle East. Congress should back off for now and let Bush's security and diplomacy teams do their jobs. This war on terroism is VERY complex, and, unfortunately, we need the cooperation of some distasteful regimes to affect change or victory over others.

I believe there is dominoe strategy in place and that the administration is going after the sources. Once those sources are neutralized, the rest of the antagonists will fall in line. We can ill afford to make enemies out of every country but Israel in the M.E. The relevant motto is: Be patient.

Sanctions are a weapon to be used when all else fails. The very threat of sanctions can be a weapon.

In fact, I'm sure that's what this bill is all about, to serve notice on this cruddy little country. This floater won't pass because of behind-the-scenes strategy and consent of both political parties.

Why has congress waited until now to put forth a bill like this? Why doesn't the bill also list Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Yemen, Sudan, Tunisia, the Palestinians, Libya, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland, etc? Syria's been a bad guy for decades now, it's been deep in with Iran and Hezbollah and the PLO. Why all the sudden is congress concerned?

Could it be... election year spam? A chance to get face time?

We could fight every terrorist country and group simultaneously, but if we go that route it will cost more American lives. It is much better to use one against the other and fight them one at a time, when we set the place and time.

Kelly pointed out that Syrian intelligence cooperation in the war against al-Qaida has “helped save American lives,”

Yeah right
