April 29, 2002 -- SINCE early last November, the FBI has indicated that it believes that a single American scientist is behind the anthrax attacks.
The FBI has guarded whatever hard evidence it has accumulated with understandably intense jealousy. So media attempts to substantiate the FBI's conviction have necessarily been based almost exclusively on the speculation of outside "experts."

Leaving us to ask another question. Is the genie getting out of the bottle all by itself, if prematurely? Or is this merely Phase II of a "timed release" program, designed to reach a climax...when?
It was meant to be discovered and analyzed, but with several cutouts to avoid overt proof of origin.
If they can make grams, they can make tons, and they could have easily smuggled into the USA a hundred or a thousand kilo sized sealed glass jars of weapons grade anthrax spores.
A dozen Iraqi agents with ten jars each could shut down the 12 largest US cities for weeks or longer, and kill tens of thousands if all of the jars were smashed the same day on subway tracks etc. Shutting down the 12 largest US cities for a month would wreck our economy.
If his he is as infatuated with his wacko revival of a lost ancient empire as he appears to be, and he has reason to believe we will end his dream once and for all, I couldn't think of any reason he would not use the stuff. It's not like he really cares about the little folks...
Has any mainstream article yet mentioned the likelihood, or even the possibility, that the anthrax mailings were an act of military deterrence, a warning to us to watch our step because our enemy has a weapon of mass destruction and is willing and able to use it? I don't think the mainstream media are close yet to revealing the truth.
No, they're not. But, as evidenced by this article, some are starting to get their minds around the concept that a.) the domestic terrorist theory doesn't hold water and b.) a foreign state may have been involved.
It will be very interesting to see how (and whether) the issue is developed from here.
Your earlier observation that the government may never confirm the anthrax attack was a "warning" seems plausible. Consequently, we can follow how the government attempts to "manage" the story as it develops. Will they try to smother and discredit the "foreign state terrorism" theory? Or will they try to guide it to a favorable timeline, scheduling a revelation concurrent with the attack on Iraq?
It is astounding, isn't it, how easily the media has been led by the nose on this story? Of course, they've been led in a direction they naturally wanted to go, making the job vastly easier.
Independent thought is not the media's metier.
