He made a monkey's ass out of all of those pompous military men -- thoroughly infiltrating their inner circles and pumping them for information to pass along to news --- but how much more was he told to keep confidential that he didn't share with the press -- but passed along to foreigners? Was he a spy?

It was a Fox executive that was suspicious and had his credentials checked out ---- not someone in the military. That's scary!

"Stolen Valor" was a good book when it came to exposing frauds, but it was absolutely wrong about Agent Orange.I know firsthand.I don't think the author's motives were bad-he was just relying on poor advice and didn't go far enough in researching his sources on that particular subject.

A PFC in 44 days? He should have stayed in, he'd coulda been a four star in five years.

The executive added that Mr. Cafasso was hired because of his contacts, not necessarily his military background. "Joe was just plugged in everywhere," the executive said. "He appeared to be able to call almost any military base and have a friend there."

I wonder who this guy really is...I think there is a lot of deception and confusion. He may not be a weirdo folks...

I would bet he has no family, no wife, etc..

Get where I am going with this?

I am very familiar with Agent Orange, having breathed it, been sprayed on by it, etc. No ill effects after all these years.

Having said that, it is now a certified VA disability if you get certain types of cancer - no questions asked if you can prove you were in country during that period.

That men in their 50s and 60s GET cancer by the fact that they live that long is another story.

"He knew more about the military and the Pentagon than most reporters we deal with,"

Like that would be so difficult....NOT!

Consider yourself to be a lucky man. Not all of us have been that lucky.

That men in their 50s and 60s GET cancer by the fact that they live that long is another story.

I would tell you that there are other sympthoms than cancer and that some of us were getting medical treatment for this while STILL in VN and in our early 20's,but I wouldn't want to bore you. You seem to know everything there is to know about this subject.

"Any Serviceman who leaves the service, for whatever reason, is given multiple copies of his DD 214"

Only got the original copy of mine in Sept '69
Still have it. It's the one piece of data that I have always held onto.

Holey Schmokes! This guy must have been some soldier.

I took BCT at Ft. Dix just a few years prior... But none of our guys ever made PFC in 44 days!

Good question... it doesn't appear to be too difficult to schmoooooooze your way in... bound to pick up some details that are useful that way.

Sounds like some officials ought to take heed and keep their mouths shut. Unless they were deliberately using him as a misinformation 'leak.' Not that I have much faith in people keeping their mouths shut these days.
