Does your range have the full deal (600yds), or do you have the 100yd like I do. I'm wondering how many clicks up to go when shooting 600yds.
I've been kicking myself all day for hitting that 6. That was the only one and I didn't even hit any 7's.
The surprising thing was that only six people showed up to shoot. I guess Mothers Day and rain held down the attendance. I owe my win to the practice gained during the postal match. Next up is a highpower rifle match in June and a reactive pistol math in July.
OK folks, lets do it. I have 15 set of 6 targets. We will do centerfire and rimfire rifles, 100 yards, 10 shots each; all slow fire, standing, sitting and prone. Iron sights, no spotting scopes or shooting jackets.
Freep-mail me a mailing address. I'll post an open announcement thread on FR's main board after I have gotten responses from the postal pistol match participants first.
M1911 and myself are in, leaving 13 slotes open.
No spotting scopes - or no optics on the gun?
What constitutes "match" rifes and ammo? Service rifles, but no "space" guns? Ball ammo?
As far as the ammo is concerned, I'm not going to shoot the match with Sierra MatchKings or the stuff that says "MATCH" in great big letters. I have boxes of surplus 30-06 or Turkish 8mm.
I realize that this isn't what I did for the pistol match. I just thought that most people owned accurate pistols since they don't cost any more than a reliable defensive pistol. The problem that I see with rifles is that the price item isn't the same. Anyone can buy a good hunting rifle for a couple of hundred dollars. A good match rifle's barrel will run more than that.
I think you forgot to mention no match rifles or match ammo?
Correct, no match rifles or ammo.
No spotting scopes - or no optics on the gun?
correct, neither.

I'm sure there is a techincal definition for these, Shooter 2.5, can you help me out?
From my point of view, match ammo is that stuff that costs $20+ a box and says "match". I shoot m2 LakeCity ball, from the CMP, $88 (+ S&H) a case of 400, but I'd like to let shooter 2.5 give us a better definition. I've got 6 address so far. I'll wait till this sunday night then post an open thread on the main board.
I think if someone has a match gun, they know it! ;^). I recently acquired a 1911 .45, the barrel and barrel bushing are marked "NM" (national match), and the barrel has been lapped to the slide.
I wish I had had this gun for our pistol match, a tighter group I have never seen.
Match rifles could be defined as anything with a heavy match barrel. I'm still wondering if we should restrict the sights even more but I'm inclined to forget about it. I don't think too many people have a standard barrel on something and then went all out for a $300 set of sights. So I think we can just mention the barrel. Iron sights only it is.
OK, to make it easy. See all this trash in the picture? We can't use any of it. LOL.
That's all the stuff I have to drag out Sunday. That upper receiver is not the one I use for the matches where I'm 2 points away from Master. At that club, I use the service rifle category. For some reason, I have only seen one match rifle at that other club. At this particlular club, at least half the people use them. So that's why I drag out that long upper receiver.
