Excellence in posting. Reasonability rules. It's like with guns - the vileness and dangerousness of the positions taken by our adversaries infuriates - but incremental, thoughtul and legal tactics will win at the end of the day. FReegards

I want everyone to understand that I completely respect the American choice to protest against something you oppose and to stand up for something you believe in, but when it is forced upon children, I absolutely lose all respect.I guess she has a big problem with Planned Parenthood's deliberate targeting and huge clientele of teenage customers then.

So, what do you think, from the perspective of six months later? Is the waving of the bloody pictures a good or a bad tactic? The more I think about it, the more I think occasional use is helpful. It shouldn't take more than that to get people thinking and talking about what abortion really is.
I'm still open to being convinced otherwise. I've learned to speak my (current) opinion, but that doesn't mean I'm oblivious to my fallibility.

Reasonability rulesIs something that, at this moment, might convince PP-brainwashed adolescents or young adults to forego abortion reasonable?
Could be that it is.

My kids don't watch much TV, and they are not around many older kids. None of us have seen the GE adds you are talking about.
They don't hear many scary stories, and they certainly don't see them.
My kids are not scared of drowning because they all can swim.
I think they should be filled with vissions of Veggie Tales, and not visions of horror.

Planned Parenthood's deliberate targeting and huge clientele of teenage customersI think those teenagers (and young adults) are the ones who would most benefit from seeing graphic pictures. They've been raised in a "blobbist", PP-brainwashed world.
Some of them might choose to let their children be born. They won't have regrets in the future, when it finally becomes more apparent that liberalizing abortion was wrong.

New Technology Boosts Pro-life Efforts
By Steve Jordahl, correspondent
New multidimensional ultrasound technology is bringing the abortion debate into focus.
A new television ad airing during such popular shows as NBC's "Friends" hails the advent of a new General Electric product that provides an even clearer view into the womb.
"When you see your baby for the first time on the new GE 4D Ultrasound system, it really is a miracle," the ad says. It shows a married, expectant couple gazing at a screen revealing a detailed, moving image of the child in utero.
The GE Web site describes the technology this way: "4D Ultrasound takes three-dimensional ultrasound images and adds the element of time to the process. The result: Live action images of your unborn child."
But GE's product isn't the only one getting parents closer to their preborn children. Novint Technologies, Inc., based in Albuquerque, N.M., has developed a product called e-Touch that interacts with the GE product to create the sensation of touch. According to a May 7 press release, this allows expectant parents "to feel a vast array of textures including the feel of the baby's face and skin."
Tom Anderson, CEO of Novint, witnessed the miracle of his new technology first-hand with his own son.
"As a parent, that was just such an amazing experience," Anderson said. "He is still not born, he's due in July, but I've touched his nose and I've touched his cheeks and I know what he looks like."
Ironically, Anderson described himself as "pro-choice."
But parents aren't the only ones who are excited about the new technology. Laura Echevarria, with the National Right to Life Committee, said this is a boost for the pro-life movement.
"We are seeing that as technology rapidly advances, that it will become undeniable that the unborn child is human and deserves protection just like everyone else," Echevarria said.
She cited recent polls that show the American public split 50-50 on the abortion issue, with the pro-life viewpoint gaining acceptance. She added that she'll take all the free advertising she can get.
"Certainly, having a four-dimensional sonogram commercial air during "Friends" ... there's no way we could have been able to pay for that kind of ad," Echevarria said.
And that, she said, is a miracle as well.

"I use Jesus as my example of right and wrong, and I don't think Jesus would show those pictures to little children"
Thank you. Very good point.

You tell them that those are some very confused people, and they think Halloween is this week. Then, when they get older, you tell them the sad truth about baby-killing.

Murders, rapes, etc happen every day and I would not show my kids pictures of those activities either. I don't show my kids the pictures of the suicide bombers. I don't think young kids need to be exposed to such violence. Your analogy is flawed. Murders, rapes, etc are not legal. Showing people the horror of murder/rapes serves no purpose because they already understand how horrible it is and have made it against the law.
You realize that you're basically arguing against the first amendment? Why even bother guaranteeing a right to free speech, we can just invoke the mantra "for the children" and cut off anyone's right to speak out. There are some prices you have to pay in order to live in a free society. Children should not be the primary target of such information campaigns, but if I had to choose between a child seeing a picture, or a child actually being aborted, I know which is more wrong.

You cannot show pornography in public. Certain items are not allowed in public.
If people know that murder and rapes are horrible, then why do people still commit murder and rape.
Young children do not understand death, period. Young children do not understand sex, period.

How about doing neither. I'm tired of people justifying something that is wrong by saying that it is less wrong than the other thing.
It's like Clinton and his definition of "is". Well, oral sex really isn't sex. Oral sex really isn't adultery. Give me a break.
Wrong is wrong.

I just have one more point to bring up.
I got extremely upset when I heard about my college having a Vagina Fair after showing the Vagina Monologues at my old college.
The purpose of the whole thing was to bring up awareness of domestic violence and other issues.
The Vagina Fair was set up in public place at the University. I thought it was wrong. They were handing out Vagina Pops and other items.
I think they are wrong for setting up something like that in a public place. I wouldn't want my children (or my grandmother) seeing Vagina Pops.
I wouldn't want my children seeing pictures of aborted fetuses.
It's wrong.

To: luckystarmom
What are the odds of any small child even seeing the pictures....pretty slim, I'll bet.
Wouldn't you think the odds are higher for a child to be aborted, than they are for a child to see a picture of an aborted fetus?

I've never seen a Vagina Fair. What other issues do they discuss? What other "educational" materials do they use besides pops?

I'm tired of people justifying something that is wrong by saying that it is less wrong than the other thing... Wrong is wrong. Is it wrong to drive a school bus or an ambulance because some children die in accidents involving these vehicles?

It's like Clinton and his definition of "is". Well, oral sex really isn't sex. Oral sex really isn't adultery. Give me a break. The Planned Parenthood exterminators are the ones distorting the truth and are the ones trying to hide the truth from the public. The folks at NARAL act in a similar manner to Clinton.
The Pro-lifers are trying to get the truth out to the public. That's not Clintonian behavior at all.
The truth shall set you free....(and might save a few innocent lives).
