JPII's words are the words of Peter. When Our Lord said his deal about binding and loosing, he was referring to Peter, not the bishops as a whole. When he said "I prayed for you that you shall not be sifted as wheat", he was referring to the position that Peter held, not the bishops. When they say that the Pope "IS JUST ANOTHER BISHOP LIKE THE REST OF US", they are dead wrong. In fact, they are GRAVELY wrong.
All of the bishops, including cardinals, have a tremendous responsibility to follow Peter. To do otherwise is disobedience to Christ. Because, Our Lord said to Peter, 'those who hear YOU, hear me'.
And this is the tame stuff; but just as shocking to me as this church celebrating the "pride" of faggotry is the great number of defenders of this deviancy among the ranks of FR. This became apparent to me today while pursuing another related thread. I started to wonder if I'd stumbled onto a Village Voice-sponsored BBS...
Just to be clear, Cleveland PRIDE 2002 is a weekendlong secular event celebrating sodomy. A parade is part of this. I don't think the Diocese helped organize it, but the Cleveland Diocese is obviously promoting it as evidenced by its website. As part of the weekendlong "celebration", there will be a Gay PRIDE Interfaith Service which also is being promoted on the Diocesan website.
Any "Catholic" ministry to homosexual persons which uses the terms "gay" or "lesbian" is ipso facto suspect. Those terms, in and of themselves, denote promotion of the Gay Liberation agenda.
I'm starting to wonder if there isn't something wrong with Catholics that they don't follow the teachings of Christ.

None of this terminology would be employed by Courage.
Remember, friend, even Christ's handpicked apostles let him down. Peter denied him three times; Judas betrayed him with a kiss.
The instructions from Rome are quite clear, the problem we have is age old disobediance.
The Five Goals of Courage
The following five goals of Courage were created by the members themselves when Courage was founded. The goals are read at the start of each meeting and practiced by every member in daily life.
1. Live chaste lives in accordance with the Roman Catholic Church's teaching on homosexuality. (Chastity)
2. Dedicate ones life to Christ through service to others, spiritual reading, prayer, meditation, individual spiritual direction, frequent attendance at Mass, and the frequent reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. (Prayer and Dedication)
3. Foster a spirit of fellowship in which all may share thoughts and experiences, and so ensure that no one will have to face the problems of homosexuality alone. (Fellowship)
4. Be mindful of the truth that chaste friendships are not only possible but necessary in a chaste Christian life and in doing so provide encouragement to one another in forming and sustaining them. (Support)
5. Live lives that may serve as good examples to others. (Good Example)
Again, thank you for your post.
We also have a spiritual crisis in this country and it is not just with liberal Catholics. It is the attitude of many who would rather rebel against all things spiritual and temporal, basking in moral liberalism and rejecting all truths.
What we need are prayers. We need our Christian brethren to pray for vocations--and our society needs prayers as well. This is just a tiny corner of the moral crisis this country is facing.
