First, it's an explosion at a technical school. Then it's not. No one's injured. Yes they are. Maybe it's a boiler, now they don't know.

Now..I'm listening to CNN's anchor saying there was "no smoke" when they just had a witness on saying there WAS SMOKE!!! This is the 2nd witness saying that "everything was black because of the SMOKE"...how could they say there was no smoke when these people are saying there was....now this guy is saying there was a fire...and he couldn't breath because of the smoke???

As far as I'm concerned, Fox News has had it together from the git-go on this one. As soon as I saw the first report (8 story building collapses in NYC) on PMSNBC, I started to surf between them, FNC and CNN. Both CNN and PMSNBC were calling it a "building collapse" for about the first 15 minutes. FNC did not use the word collapse - they called it an explosion.

I haven't heard any of the reports, but I'll take your word for it. If it was a welding accident, the green tank is a lot more dangerous than the red one, IMHO.

Probably welding gas was delivered. I think the explosion didn't happen at the school where the gas was delivered.

This is the old psychological test/whatever, get five people together, tell them the exact same story, five minutes later seperate them, ask them to repeat the story, you'll end up with five different stories.

I'm just glad that people on FR are finally calming down. I didn't see that many "terrorists did it" posts. At least they are showing a little bit more restraint than they have shown in the past, too bad the news stations aren't doing that.

What a memory for her, we know many people who did the same....some of my husband's partners watched the flames of the first plane hit, in shock...(they were also in the buildings right near the towers)....saw people jumping and got out too - seeing things they never thought they'd see.

My husband also would've been in or around the WTC (path stations) 'cept for 15 minutes of traffic that morning, and he watched the 2nd plane hit the Tower from the other side of the Hudson River.

That is why I still feel the panic feeling when there is this type news.... but I try hard to get info as fast as possible because the terrorists must laugh everytime we seem "afraid".

I think you're right...Press conference at St. Vincent's in 15 minutes on Fox News. New lady witness, heard a very loud explosion, a couple of doors down, a lot of smoke and debris, "awful smell" -- explosion was at the sign factory, streets blocked off, barricades, etc. Fire official Mike Carter says there was an explosion, civilian injuries only, concern because of recent terror warnings, appears that it smells like hydrocarbon aroma, appears to be a tragic accident...

Howard Safer, former fire commissioner, says it's all speculation "until we see what's in there."

Yeah, I can't imagine terrorists plotting to bomb something in Chelsea when there's so many other targets in the city.
