Just heard that Atkins had aheart attack this morning
Im curious as to the diets effect on hypoglycemics - who typically juggle carbs to balance the sugar - any info on that ?
The Atkins diet, and other low carb diets, are CURATIVE of hypoglycemia because they eliminate high glycemic foods that play hell on blood sugar. My blood sugar is NORMAL for the first time in my life on this diet. No more throbbing headaches, fatigue or low level depression. I have more energy now than when I was in my 20's and running every day. Hypoglycemics notice a dramatic and immediate effect on low carb diets.
My hypoglycemia went out of control on a low fat/high carb diet. One prescribed by my DOCTOR, by the way! It made me terribly sick and I lost no weight in 4 months.
Amen to that! I've suffered from the symptoms of hypoglycemia for most of my adult life. I've been to my doctor complaining of fatigue and afternoon shakiness and haven't gotten any answers. Atkins has been the only thing that has totally eliminated the symptoms you describe above.
This is my fifth week on the diet, and my clothes are looser. I am exercising and loosing weight. I am eating healthier than I ever have, and I'm not hungry! When people ask me about it, I usually describe the Atkins as something of a miracle I've stumbled upon.
To the naysayers... like anything, your mileage may vary. Atkins has worked for me where nothing else has in the past.
